Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? I had around 2 months planned for my holiday so I knew I could explore quite a few places, ended up visiting 28 cities in 14 countries. Being a music festival chaser, my favorite part was the European Leg which started with Lisbon onwards to Paris, Brussels, Boom, Amsterdam, Vienna, Budapest and Ibiza concluding in London. I had 2 weekends with me so I spent one in Belgium (for Tomorrowland) and the next one in Ibiza (the party capital of the world). Then I went over to the US to join family and managed to make a mini solo trip to South America as well. Colombia was of course on the list, having been a Narcos fan. And then to reduce my travel time, I chose Panama to go with. Who did you travel with? I covered the europe part with a group of friends from Islamabad, Dubai & Lahore. We flew out on different dates but

converged in Belgium for Tomorrowland. In US I had family and South American part of the trip was solo. Every year I take a solo trip because that is how I enjoy travelling. Because you have the liberty to make spontaneous plans and not worry about anybody else. It gives you a taste of the kind of people there are out there and make new acquaintances. Where did you stay? Most of my stay was at hotels except for 2 days of camping at Tomorrowland which was a first for me. You can get good value deals in Lisbon, Paris, Brussels, Vienna & Budapest. My preference was to remain closer to the city centre since it allows you to cover more ground in the day and the areas are tourist friendly. Also has good night life options if you don’t have a flight early morning. Ibiza, London & Amsterdam properties are more expensive as compared to the rest.

What are the best shopping spots there? Lisbon (Centro Vasco da Gama) was the best in terms of prices for high street fashion. In Downtown Amsterdam, you will find almost all of the retail brands. For Ibiza, the area around Ibiza Town Port has plenty of shopping options.
Tell us about the sights noone should miss out on For Lisbon, don’t miss out on Bairro Alto, Sintra & Cabo Da Roca. In Paris, it’d be the Lourve and a River Sevine Cruise. In Budapest, the Austrian Parliament Building, Chain Bridge and other monuments along the river Danube. In Amsterdam, I’d suggest you stay in the city centre and don’t miss out on a night tour of the red light area. In Vienna, I would suggest the Shonbrunn Palace, Opera House & Stephansdom. In Ibiza, it would be San Antonio & Formentera Island.

Finally Tips For solo travellers & college groups, I would recommend Budapest, Ibiza & Amsterdam. For people traveling with their families, Paris, Lisbon and Vienna are the better choices. Travel light, use apps like rome2rio to plan your travel and useful websites like wikitravel to learn almost everything of interest about a city from a single source. Always pick a hotel in downtown so you can walk around or if you are short on time, you can take the Big Bus tours which allow you to cover most of the city in a single day. I was moving to a new city almost every other day and only planned my next day the night before, leaving some margin for last minute additions and I had a great time at it! Also make sure you have a credit card that works outside Pakistan otherwise you are really handicapped since most of these bookings are made online.

Suggest places for a perfect night out You just can’t go wrong with a night out in Paris. Whether it’s idle walking along River Sienne or a happening Moulin Rouge show,
What can you do over there to relax and unwind? In Budapest, you can take a walk on the Vaci Street and enjoy some street music and a late meal. For Amsterdam you would probably want to try one of the coffee shops and do some people watching. There’s a good chance you will catch on a Jazz musical festival in Vienna at any time of the year so that’s something to look out for, especially if you’re into Jazz.

Suggest some amazing restaurants there? Not a big foodie and I can say most of my trip was powered with fast food. My aim was not to fall sick since I couldn’t miss a single travel link otherwise it would disturb my whole itinerary. So I went with the safe options. Besides I like exploring the territory more rather than the gastronomy.
Paris never disappoints. Ibiza is made for night life and you can get some real action at Ushuaia, Space, Amnesia & Pacha. Budapest is mostly pub crawling but is definitely one of the cheapest and most beautiful capital cities in Europe.
