How would you define your personal style? Understated glam/ vintage circa 1950's. What’s the best thing anyone has ever said about your work? That I've redefined the way makeup and makeup artists are viewed in Pakistan. The biggest compliment is being applauded by some of the best talent in the fashion industry whom I respect and admire. What is your biggest strength as a makeup artist? My versatility. I don't like being put into a box. I like to constantly evolve. Before I finish a project/shoot/makeup I start dreaming about the next thing I want to create. How would you define the fashion scene in Pakistan? It's an exciting time for the industry as there has been an influx of a younger generation with a fresher outlook in all areas, across the board. There is work being produced that could rival the work being done internationally hence it's incredibly rewarding to be a part of it at this time. How would you describe your childhood? My childhood was filled with glamorous characters that were the foundation of my fascination for the world of make believe. They made me want to paint, create, evoke and dream big. What do you value most in your friends? Honesty and humour. What’s your nickname? Zile. Who are your influences and inspirations? I am inspired by sights, sounds, objects, colours and people. My grandmother, my mother, my sister, my aunts as well as makeup greats Pat McGrath, Kevyn Aucoin, Val Garland, Francois Nars, Alex Box, Gucci Westman and Charlotte Tilbury. What is your greatest fear? Losing the ones I love most and heights! What’s something very few people know about you? That I am fascinated by all things dark. embracing that makes me appreciate the beauty of life a lot more. 40

What do you like to do for fun? Travel to exotic locations, enjoy good food and great company. What do you wish you had more time for? To pursue my other passions. I want to paint , take beautiful pictures, I love interiors but unforeunately I don’t get the time. What’s your favourite holiday spot? I love Europe. Rome for it's architecture , food and culture. Prague for it's breathtaking elegance and beauty. Egypt for it's history. Koh Samui for the island life and of course Dubai as that has been home and continues to be so. Who do you look up to? My mother Hina and sister Sabrina- their strength, their beauty , their resilience and their genius. Who is your favourite hero in fiction? There are so many. Othello, Macbeth, Jay Gatsby, Atticus Finch and Matilda to name a few. I like my heroes with flaws that makes them human. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I'd love to be less of a control freak and delegate a bit more. Who is your go to person for uncontrollable laughing fits? My sister Sabrina is the only person who can make me laugh no matter what the time or situation. What’s your favourite TV show? I have a huge list! To name a few, I love Shameless, Sex and the city, Game of Thrones, Spartacus, Entourage, True Blood and Dexter, What do you consider your greatest achievement? The new genre that is my guilty pleasure is the horror survival movie. And although I’m not saying that life in Pakistan can be like surviving a horror movie (ok I’m thinking it but I’m NOT saying it) on long sleepy afternoons I sometimes wonder that if one wrong move could end your life - who would be on my dream team?
The heroes Ali Zafar He’s definitely the pretty boy that goes within ten minutes. It's not always the big movie star that survives. Drew Barrymore was gloriously slaughtered within minutes in the beginning of Scream. Your audience will think he’ll be around till the end – then BAM! A good first victim. Professor Hoodbuoy The Professor is not ripped and he can’t fight but he’ll use his mind to survive. You need a scientist who will 44

Kamiar Rokni Because hes just so darn popular. He likes to party so he’ll raise our spirits. He’s the unexpected wildcard. His joke-laden friendly disposition will make it seem like he’s the first to go. However, once the murder and terror begins he picks up the nearest uzi and ‘Revengeance’ becomes a part of his vocabulary. There's a good chance he makes it out with only a flesh wound. Meesha Shafi Let’s face it, you need at least one hot babe as they are like flypaper to the average murdering psychopath. Meesha is beautiful but tattooed and tough also. She will be the one that hears a noise and then wanders outside nervously yelling ‘is anybody out there’? And then she’ll kick some demon ass.
The Villains Maulana Mohammad Abdul Aziz of Lal Masjid He is the evil overlord that tries to escape using the old burka trick again. Pity it gets caught in a pedestal fan this time. Let’s just say it does not end well. Amir Liaqat He is, of course, the leader of an army of brainless mutants. Inevitably, they turn against him and he fails to hear the sloggish shuffle of their homicide-bent footsteps coming up right behind him. Sahir Lodhi This villain might look like a man at first glance, but he's actually an ancient demon who feasts on human flesh and assembles himself a new body from the various body parts. This creepy villain appears to his victims seven days after they watch a cursed morning show. He can't be killed. He can't be stopped. There’s no escaping the wrath of Sahir Lodhi. Leatherface This aging ex model, turned event manager, wields a chainsaw and has a fondness for taking selfies while wearing masks made of human skin. She will survive even a Rasputin-level execution and end the film by opening her eyes and rising to kill again. And like every good cult movie location is key. I have just the place for the villains’ evil lair. A mysterious black volcanic island littered with corpses of dead fish where you can hear the hiss of escaping flammable gas, newly emerged just off the coast of Balochistan.

men What think By natasia Khalid
Have you ever wanted to get inside a man’s head and find out what he’s really thinking? Find out what these guys think is the best mode of communication with a girl, what is the one thing that girls do on Facebook that they absolutely cannot stand, if a girl’s past bothers them, whether jealousy can be seen positively or negatively and finally what makes a perfect woman.
Raheel Paul, 28 Marketing Director/ Musician, Karachi Dawood Akbar 23 Architect, Karachi What is your favourite mode of communication with a girl? I don’t particularly have a favourite type of communication mode, but I guess WhatsApp would be my only preference. It’s simple and easy plus you know when the other person is “online.” What is the one thing that girls do on Facebook that you absolutely cannot stand? I would have to say constant status updates or constantly writing on my wall. I find that extremely off putting. If a girl has a past, does that bother you and why? I think every guy would have a bit of an issue with that, but this is after all the 21st century so time to get with it and get over those things. I would rather a girl didn’t but at the same time I wouldn’t judge a girl over it. Do you see jealousy in a girl as a positive or negative sign? It is a positive sign but only initially, later on though you need to develop some sort of trust and understanding. If you don’t then jealousy can get pretty annoying. What makes for a perfect woman? She should support whatever it is I want to do and be a team player. Also if she can cook that would be a big plus.

What is your favourite mode of communication with a girl? I’d say texting. It’s comfortable since you can message at your own convenience and not have to worry about being nervous or being judged by the other person. I’m not much of a phone person because I get easily distracted in long conversations. Of course there’s nothing like having a conversation in person as it allows you to make a good impression and most importantly, make the girl feel comfortable. What is the one thing that girls do on Facebook that you absolutely cannot stand? Duck faces and mirror “selfie” pictures seem extremely lame and make me think, “Please, how old are you again?” If a girl has a past, does that bother you and why? No! Even I have a past. Having a past only means she knows what she wants which is a good thing and that her past wasn’t exactly what she was looking for. Do you see jealousy in a girl as a positive or negative sign? There should always be a factor of jealousy but to a very minimal extent. It shows care and commitment. Over expressed jealousy and possessiveness can be suffocating. What makes for a perfect woman? Nobody is perfect! However, beauty + brains + compatibility + love + respect + a great sense of humour + food lover = perfect for me! Damn where can I find one like that?
Mudassar Shahbaz, 22 Associate at Aitzaz Ahsan and Associates (Law Firm), Lahore What is your favourite mode of communication with a girl? It might sound strange in this day and age, but nothing can be better than face to face. Definitely not WhatsApp because it causes too many issues when you can tell when the other person was “last seen” Haha. I’d choose texting over WhatsApp. What is the one thing that girls do on Facebook that you absolutely cannot stand? Selfies! Regardless of how attractive she might be, selfies are a definite sign of self-obsession. Also I’ve been taught not to judge a book by its cover, so I don’t think profile photos give a true picture of what they look like. That’s the best they've looked and it won't be like that everyday. If a girl has a past, does that bother you and why? I would say no because that would make me a hypocrite. However, her being in close contact with her past would have possible repercussions. I'd like to know everything and get to know it once and for all and then never have talk about it again. I'm quite orthodox - still I'd accept it but would not like to be reminded of it. Do you see jealousy in a girl as a positive or negative sign? Honestly, I think all boys actually enjoy jealousy in their girls to some extent. However it can't possibly be a good sign, it means there’s not enough trust and the girl will not be giving you any breathing space which is the worst thing possible for me. What makes for a perfect woman? Good looks and a charming personality for sure. And she should know how to cook.
Ahmad Ansari, 24 Banker, Dubai What is your favourite mode of communication with a girl? Face to face as it is definitely the best way to get to know someone. What is the one thing that girls do on Facebook that you absolutely cannot stand? It’s between the pictures girls tend to post of themselves accompanied with absolutely random quotes or the outburst of emotions on status updates. If a girl has a past, does that bother you and why? It depends on the specific circumstance but for the most part no, simply because everyone has a past and that plays a major role in the development of an individual’s character. A girl cannot change her past, she can only learn from it and move on. Do you see jealousy in a girl as a positive or negative sign? Jealousy can never be seen as a positive sign. What makes for a perfect woman? She plays FIFA haha. On a serious note, someone you can spend all day with but never get bored of. Someone who shares the same interests and values. Loyalty and trust are obviously important traits. 2013

The House of Kamiar Rokni’s new bridal collection, ‘The Orientalist’, is inspired by the glory and fascination that captivated the West when they first encountered the exotic East. Multiple embroidery techniques and unexpected motifs create an element of surprise and excitement.
By AmnA SAlmAn
The collection celebrates fabrics created from regionally indigenous textiles (hand-woven silks, organzas, jamavars, chiffons and nets) in an eclectic mix of vibrant colours with lots of gota.
The two parrots at the back are a perfect example of the surprise elements this collection offers as well as two very different Asian influences gelling together in perfect harmony in one outfit.
The Shandana Kurta is the reincarnation of the Saraiki or Baluchi kurta. It incorporates gota, resham, ghara, mukaish, french knots and zardozi.
The same whimsical gota patterns mixed with tradition craft continues with this red ensemble. The back boasts a collection of dragon flies while the workmanship features the very best of our ethnic workmanship, with colours that go beautifully together.
