THE HOARDERS HOUSE
The girls’ first project was as challenging as it gets. “It was in terrible condition” explained Lana. “Every room was filled to the roof with rubbish”. Knocking down almost every wall inside the Castle Hill home (in Sydney’s northwest), the end result saw an open plan design that was light, breezy and modern. Transforming the three separate rooms of kitchen, living and dining into one large space, they also stole centimetres from neighbouring bedrooms to create a luxury master suite. THE HAMPTONS HOUSE Their second home was transformed into a chic, Hamptons style abode – an impressive accomplishment, as the house was located in Castle Hill – 35km from the coast. “When we saw the exterior cladding and huge pool in the backyard, we knew we could create a beachy feel in the Hills, as long as we made the right design choices,” Bonnie says. Six weeks of hard work and heart resulted in breathable, open plan living – a stunning coastal canvas for indoor/outdoor entertaining. PURCHASED $975k Jan ’15

Having just completed their third renovation project, the girls’ burgeoning business, ‘Three Birds Renovations’ is flying. The three busy mothers (of eight kids under nine, combined) had no prior redecorating experience, and yet they’ve learnt very quickly how to get the job done. The key to their success has been based on trusting each other and working to their individual strengths. Erin runs the renovation timeline, books tradies and draws floor plans. Bonnie designs and sources items to style each home. While Lana manages the money, key stakeholders and the bigger picture for the business. Sharing the heavy load is paying dividends for the girls, providing an exceptional work/life balance. “Rather than work long hours to build someone else’s business, we decided to work shorter hours to build our own,” says Bonnie. “Add to that, the fun of renovating a house with your two best mates, and we were no longer building just a house and new business - we were building a life we love.”
