Palacký University and its workplaces have long been working in cooperation with the Czech and international academic elite. Many famous personalities thus travel to Olomouc as guests of the university. In 2020, for instance, chemist Niyazi Serdar Sarıçiftçi, psychologist Konstantinos Kafetsios, and expert on biomechanics Jim Richards came to UP.

Sarıçiftçi again at UP

Chemist Niyazi Serdar Sarıçiftçi from Johannes Kepler University Linz once again visited UP and its Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials (RCPTM). He agreed to continue the existing successful cooperation in the use of graphene derivatives in nanobioelectrocatalysis.

Kinesiology conference hosted Jim Richards

Jim Richard, expert on biomechanics from the University of Central Lancashire, was the keynote speaker at the kinesiology conference hosted by the Department of Clinical Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Health Sciences. His lecture focussed on neurorehabilitation.

Pavel Kolář lectured at FPC

The most famous Czech physiotherapist, Pavel Kolář, lectured at the Faculty of Physical Culture. The renowned expert introduced students to the principles and applications of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation, a method he founded.

Acknowledgement of Kafetsios from the Department of Psychology

Konstantinos Kafetsios, an expert specialising in the research of emotions in social interaction, is a lecturer in the Department of Psychology. In the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, he received the title of Professor Extraordinarius from the UP Rector. Kafetsios is one of the leading European experts in the field of organisational psychology.

Josef Kalina on the use of maps in navigation

One of the main guests of the 14th year of the Olomouc Cartographic Day was navigator Josef Kalina, who has almost 30 years of experience from the Dakar Rally. He lectured on the use of maps in navigating racers and the transformation of navigation systems.

Portuguese Ambassador visited UP

Luís de Almeida Sampaio, the new Ambassador of Portugal to the Czech Republic, visited UP. He met with the Rector and representatives and students of the Department of Romance Studies at the Faculty of Arts. The diplomat has previously served as ambassador in Berlin, Angola, Algiers, and Belgrade. ■
