Palacký University Olomouc and its academics, scientists, alumni, and students received many awards of import in 2020. The Faculty of Law received the National Security Council Award
The Faculty of Law is a laureate of the 2020 National Security Council Award for significant contribution to the security policy of the Czech Republic. The Council appreciated the long-term and progressive work of the faculty in matters of security and in the field of international humanitarian and operational law.

UP scored in a marketing competition
A UP mobile app for students and applicants won second place in the Fénix Content Marketing competition. The jury was also impressed by the other promotional activities by UP: its Annual Report, UP Journal, calendars, and the historical photo series.
Minister of Education awarded Kamil Kopecký
Associate Professor Kamil Kopecký received the Minister of Education’s Award for outstanding educational activities at the university. At the Faculty of Education, he has long been involved in the field of risky behaviour on the Internet and the use of IT tools in teaching.
Werner von Siemens Award to Ivo Straka
The prestigious Werner von Siemens Award for the best dissertation was awarded to Ivo Straka from the Department of Optics at the Faculty of Science. The scientist focussed on the quantum nature of light in laboratory experiments.
Professor Hrabová honoured by President of the Senate
The President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Miloš Vystrčil, presented Libuše Hrabová, Professor Emerita at the Faculty of Arts, with a silver commemorative medal for her exemplary perseverance and persistence and for the elevation of history studies in the Czech Republic.
Silver medal for Josef Jařab
UP Rector Emeritus Josef Jařab received the Silver Medal of Masaryk University in recognition of his professional qualities and civic attitudes.
Michálek received Vladimír Boudník Prize
Ondřej Michálek, a teacher at the Faculty of Education, graphic designer and draughtsman, was awarded the Vladimír Boudník Prize. The award, named after a pioneer of non-conventional graphic techniques, acknowledged his lifelong contribution to graphic art.
Švrček awarded by WFNMC
The Paul Erdős Award, awarded by the World Federation of National Mathematics Competitions, was given to Jaroslav Švrček from the Faculty of Science.
Tereza Kalousková as young inspiring leader
Tereza Kalousková of the UP International Relations Office was given the Aspen Central Europe Leadership Award for her extraordinary activities on behalf of foreign students at UP during the spring coronavirus pandemic. ■
