Hello ! I am Palak Gupta, an architecture undergraduate (4th year) at School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal. I have always leaned towards understanding experiential spaces .Learning about different communities and cultures motivates me to explore the diversity in this field. Painting, illustrating and capturing the wonders around are the activities that occupy most of my spare time which also allows me to visualize architecture in a more artistic manner.

Dharavi, the largest slum of Asia, is a microcosmic representation of India that integrates the boundaries of different communities it hosts. The organic urban fabric of Dharavi is a repository of the history and memories of those many communities. It is the breeding ground of diverse businesses developed and sustained by the residents over 100 years. With three-quarters of Mumbai’s waste recycled here and a global presence in the leather and the embroidery industries, Dharavi contributes around $500-60 million to the city’s economy per year. The proposal embodies the essence of Dharavi as the hub of small industries and services that transformed a dull swamp into a vibrant community of over a million residents.

Presence of current city buildings The lack of an intuitive relationship between the Humans. Also the loss of visual visibility of the city (context) in the project. The existing projects focuses on a particular user groups neglecting the others.
The idea of project design Create a different visual connection and create an event space. Increase city visual permeability on the project. The transformation of the ground space into a public platform . Event space creates a hole in the middle of the project that increase the sense of belonging.
Creating dynamic spaces Social housing consistent with the behavior of the region’s human beings and the main structure of the neighborhood. Houses along with the experience of social activities and interaction with the design of space for planting vegetables and plants by residents themselves.

03 Metanoia Keywords: Spiritual conversation | Sacred space | New secular | A place of faith .
What is sacred for me? What is that I can call “my” sacred? Would you accompany me an journey, to discover my sacred?
My sacred is dynamic and grand, also serene and calm, but not in the same instance. It takes me in as I am confused, renders clear my demons and flaws, and tells me to stand firm, only by reminding me of the strength that I already harbor. The history of religious skirmishes in India demands a space to foster a conversation between the spirit and the self beyond the realm of religion, but not away from it. The national psyche focus in spirit of being human, before being religious. Bangalore is multicultural hub with the perennial influx from all over the nation, and hence home to the diverse, open minded youth to embrace the Metanoia. In Metanoia , The first facet is of nature. The experience of nature in the raw wild from is to create a disconnect from what we know about the world. Its a transition from known to this new ‘unknown’ dimension. The second facet of Metanoia is about self . All things that make you dive into yourself ,explore the depths of your heart and mind ,do a self-introspection and exploration. Its a journey of self awareness. The third facet is about community. What you offer to the world around you? To learn the meaning of being together and growing together. This is my sacred . A space of silence- of sound, of vision; the silence of the senses. It might be the sanctity of what surrounds me that makes me stop myself and notice all movement that is happening around me.

As I enter into the tunnel, I feel the city fading away. I walk slowly, absorbing within me what each space has to offer; questioning myself at every step :
30
Where do I come from? Where do I go?
What do I require? What is my desire ?
31
Who do we pray to, when no one is listening?
In this beautiful world, why is there any suffering?
32
Am I responsible for this chaos?
Is there anyone else who is like me?
Together, perhaps, even the dark looks beautiful.
Is this all there is, Or am I just starting to see it now?

04 Hriddo Keywords: Urban design | Community | Mobility spaces
In a time that change, the urban attributes like reversibility and openness seem to be critical elements for thinking about the articulation of more sustainable form of urban development.
Gangasagar mela sees the congregation of two million people every year who take part in a three day ceremonial bathing at the Ganges. This massive gathering makes Gangasagar Mela the second largest mega fair in the world. Due to its cultural significance, the island constantly in a state of flux. At peaks of influx, the transit systems at the island fail. At the heart of this is the Kachuberia Bus Terminus. Infrastructural failure at Kachuberia leads to a disarrayed urban-scape. The program therefore intends to set up a conjunct system of transit through necessary infrastructural interventions and envisions communal resilience through economic sustenance. Gangasagar island lies on the continental Shelf of Bay of Bengal. it is a charming tourist destination, which attracts both pilgrims and adventure lovers. Still relatively unknown and thus, unexploited. Gangasagar is a perfect trinity of religion, culture and nature. The second biggest fair after the Kumbh Mela, the confluence of the Ganges and the Bay of Bengal attracts 2 to 4 million pilgrims. Sagar Island doesn’t sleep at night during the festivities. Every year, Durga Puja Pandals are set up across the island. Not only the inhabitants but also enthusiastic devotees indulge in ‘pandal hopping’ every year. The Kachuberia ghat, at the northern end of the island houses a ferry terminal that receives the pilgrims/tourists. The jetty ghat - bus terminus network reaches its saturation at the time of the Gangasagar mela as it becomes a focal point which translates an influx of 2-4 million pilgrims to the Kapil Muni Temple. Paths between the jetty ghats and the bus terminus converge at a point.
Monthly variation in influx at Kachuberia.

Thus, architecture foremost tries to retain its autonomy. It also explores Modernism’s war on and how the architecture survives this war. It is a limited set of principles and fixed notions of the aesthetics. This column looks at architecture as merely a finished product. Here, architecture will become an agency of actualizing industry process. It intends to inculcate hope with openness and curiosity by deploying new strategies. It help the readers augment, actualize and create the new spatial paradigms. This column envisions meaningful ways for the architecture to contribute to society’s needs.
