MARCEL WANDERS "Here to create an environment of love, live with passion and make our most exciting dreams come true." Marcel Wanders is a product and interior designer who drew international recognition for his Knotted Chair produced by Droog Design in 1996. His work is ubiquitous; designing for leading international companies such as Flos, Alessi, Puma, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, MAC Cosmetics, Cappellini, B&B Italia, Moroso and Target. Wanders also designs for architectural projects, such as the Kameha Grand hotel in Bonn, the Mondrian South Beach hotel in Miami and the Villa Moda store in Bahrain. In addition to running his studio, Wanders is cofounder and Artistic Director of the successful design label Moooi (2001). He exhibits widely and his work is included in such significant museum collections as MoMA New York, The Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, and the V&A Museum, London. Wanders has further published numerous books and is extensively profiled in the global media, appearing in such publications as the New York Times, Domus, The Financial Times and Wallpaper Magazine.
ZMIK "Our rule of proportion: Object – Action – Space"
Rolf Indermühle and Mattias Mohr form the Swiss Studio For Spacial Design ZMIK. ZMIK was founded in 2006 and exists to create unique, bold and accurate spacial environments. ZMIK operates at the fringes of various disciplines, such as interior design, exhibition design and furniture design, blending these to achieve integrated solutions to complex questions. The work of ZMIK has been nominated for the Design Preis Schweiz 09 and the Contract World award 2011 and 2012. In 2012 ZMIK has been shortlisted by Philippe Starck as one of the finalistst for the FRAME MOOOI Award 2012. Rolf Indermühle is also working as teaching assistant at the Institut for Interior Design and Scenography in Basel.
DANNY FANG "Good design creates good Karma" Passionate about technologies and materials Danny Fang (1975) graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1998. After having worked with Fair Trade, the Dutch Institute of Applied Scientific Research and Marcel Wanders, Fang decided in 2007 to leave home and hearth to start a new adventure in Hong Kong: Fang Studio ltd. His focus has been on working with Asian manufacturers to develop a design driven culture within the realm of mass manufacturing. ALVIN TJITROWIRJO “A dash of Patriotism is sometime necessary in design” Alvin Tjitrowirjo is an Indonesian born product and interior Designer based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Building from the rich and diverse cultural heritage of his homeland, Alvin’s designs signify a new approach to modern Indonesian design. He involves the work of skilled local artisans, reinterpreting tradition for the contemporary market and bridging the gap between, local tradition and design itself. In 2009 he established alvinT Studio a design firm working on both product and Interior design projects based in Jakarta, Indonesia. In parallel to this, Alvin develops alvinT a retail brand that strives to reinterpret Indonesian tradition into modern everyday furniture amplifying local material and resources.
BERTJAN POT "Design is too complex for one liners" Bertjan Pot is a designer, probably best known for his Random Light (1999). The light started as a material research, which is basically the starting point for each product created by Studio Bertjan Pot. The outcome is usually an interior product showing a fascination for techniques, structures, patterns and colors. Most experiments start quite impulsively by a certain curiosity for how things would function or how something would look. From there Pot takes on challenges with manufacturers to explore possibilities and push the boundaries a bit. The reward for each challenge is a new one.
STUDIO JOB "Every expression is a statement" Founded in 2000 by Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel both graduates of the Design Academy Eindhoven now based in Antwerp and Amsterdam. They redefine the applied arts for the contemporary age. Their collaboration has created highly expressive, mainly one-off or limited edition works, from the outset. Opulent, intricate and ironic, Studio Job combine an extraordinarily high level of craftsmanship with extreme ornamentation. They reference both the traditional and the topical, the organic and the artificial. This narrative conveys a tension between the good and the bad exploring all facets of each. The Studio Job iconography is at once heraldic and cartoonlike, expressive and yet somehow primitive. Their style is placed within an enigmatic, intellectual framework by the number and complexity of symbols and signifiers it conveys. Studio Job’s work is widely collected both in the private and public sectors. Their designs have been shown in the important galleries, fairs and is added to more than 40 international museum collections. Although, by definition, their work has primarily been geared towards collectors and museums, Studio Job has collaborated successfully with various likeminded brands eg.
