Dunbar has recently gained a new rejuvenation clinic located inside YNP Dunbar Pharmacy. Dr. Charles Scudamore and YNP pharmacists Norman Cheng and Matthew Chong agree that teaming up a medical practice with a pharmacy is a natural fit.

Dr. Scudamore is one of British Columbia’s foremost physicians; he is a leading surgical expert in liver transplantation, hepatobiliary oncology, and trauma. He is also an expert on the early recognition of pancreatic cancers and advanced colorectal metastases to the liver.
His vast experience has included head liver transplant surgeon at Vancouver General Hospital and BC Children’s Hospital and surgical director of the BC Liver Transplant Program. In addition, he developed Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the University of British Columbia and is the former president of the North Pacific Surgical Association. He is also a researcher, teacher, and caring physician.
Dr. Scudamore is a recipient of the prestigious Order of B.C. and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
A fourth generation Vancouverite, his grandfather was born in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood before Vancouver General Hospital existed. His son Brian Scudamore lives in Dunbar and is the owner and founder of 1-800-Got-Junk and other successful companies.
Dr. Scudamore has come full circle with the opening of his rejuvenation clinic.
He says, “This new venture brings me back to when I started training as a plastic surgeon at UBC. I am looking forward to my new and exciting career.”
He has resigned from his positions at Vancouver General Hospital and at UBC; he will step into his new role as professor emeritus at the university.
“I determined Dunbar was a good place to open my new business. YNP Pharmacy owners Matthew and Norman are excellent people, and I wanted to work with them. Pharmacy and medical practices work well together and are the way of the future for primacy practice,” he says.
The clinic will offer the latest skin treatments. Dr. Scudamore will perform small procedures, including Botox and facial fillers, facial and body threads, collagen stimulation, body sculpting, CoolSculpting, laser treatments, skin care and PRP injections. More extensive cosmetic procedures will be performed at False Creek Surgical Centre.
Matthew says, “We are confident Dunbar and surrounding communities will be well cared for by Dr. Scudamore.
He adds, “Working with doctors as a team in the same location can promptly resolve any issues or queries related to treatment or prescriptions, rather than having to phone or fax an offsite doctor and wait for a response. Prompt resolutions are conducive to providing efficient and improved continuity of care to patients, especially for those who are very ill, elderly or have mobility challenges.”
Two years ago, Matthew and Norman added the medical clinic to the pharmacy with this intention.
Matthew says, “I have had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Scudamore for over ten years and have the highest respect for him as a physician, team member and person. We are delighted and honoured to have Dr. Scudamore join us inside our pharmacy. We are excited to work with him.”
