DUNBAR ANIMAL HOSPITAL
Dunbar welcomed Dunbar Animal Hospital to West 41st Avenue near Bosley’s Pet Supplies in late August. Dr. Gurinder Singh Chahal knew that Dunbar has many pet owners and selected the area based on a demand for quality veterinary care.
He finds helping animals and their families extremely fulfilling. Dr. Chahal developed a love for animals early in life, having grown up on a farm surrounded by livestock and pets; this inspired him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
My journey has been driven by a desire to provide compassionate care and positively impact the lives of both pets and their owners.
He says, “Whether performing surgeries, providing wellness care, or comforting pet owners during challenging times, I cherish the relationships that I build and the trust placed in me by the community.”
Most of Dunbar Animal Hospital’s clients are from Dunbar and Kerrisdale; however, their goal is to provide exceptional care to any pet in need, regardless of location.
Dr. Chahal plays a vital role in enhancing the health and happiness of the animals he cares for and creating a lasting bond with pets and their families.
This dedicated and accomplished veterinarian has over eight years of experience in small animal medicine and surgery. With a strong background in performing routine and advanced surgical procedures, he has developed exceptional diagnostics and treatment planning skills.
Dr. Chahal’s expertise includes extensive experience in soft tissue surgery, dental procedures, and emergency care, all while focusing on client education and compassionate care.
Dunbar Animal Hospital commonly treats dogs and cats, providing services tailored to their needs.
They offer personalized care, flexible appointment scheduling, and a warm, welcoming environment for pets and owners. Gentle handling techniques are used to create a calm atmosphere, ensuring pets feel safe and comfortable during their visits.
Dunbar Animal Hospital provides wellness plans, microchipping, vaccinations, preventative care, in-house lab for blood work and urinalysis, full body X-rays and radiologist consult services, both routine and advanced surgeries, dental procedures which include dental X-rays, scaling and polishing and extractions, and special veterinary diets to promote long-term health.
They also provide ultrasound services and advanced orthopedic surgeries, including Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) and Medial patella luxation (MPL). Appointments are booked with a travelling Ultrasonographer and Orthopaedic surgeon for these special procedures at their facility.
Fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi, Dr. Chahal excels in building relationships with clients and their pets, ensuring a comfortable environment for all. His professional journey includes working at various veterinary hospitals in Toronto, Vancouver and California, where he successfully implemented high standards of veterinary medical and surgical care.
His wife, Jasneet Kaur Chahal, plays a vital role as the hospital’s manager. She oversees operations, manages the team, and ensures they provide their clients and pets the highest level of care.
Clients are impressed with the compassionate and professional treatment offered at Dunbar Animal Hospital.
Your pet’s care is our priority, and we aim to be as accessible as possible.
The hospital is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. They encourage clients to check Google Maps for future updates or changes to their hours.
The couple share a love for Vancouver and are delighted to make the city their new home after recently relocating from California, where Dr. Chahal’s family resides.
Currently, he is the sole veterinarian at Dunbar Animal Hospital and has six staff members. Looking ahead, Dr. Chahal plans to expand the team and bring in another veterinarian as the practice grows and attracts more clients. This future addition will further enhance the quality of care and services offered at Dunbar Animal Hospital, allowing them to serve the community better.
Jasneet says, “Engaging with the community is important to us, and we are excited to be a part of it. Dunbar Animal Hospital is eager to support local organizations. We hope to become involved with the BCSPCA, as we believe in their mission to promote animal welfare and help pets in need.”
“We are dedicated to providing exceptional veterinary care and are always here to answer questions and support our community,” says Dr. Chahal.
