Your legacy for Palm Beach County

A great college

makes a great community

Florida’s first public community college is now the largest institution of higher education in Palm Beach County.

+ 52,000

students With four locations and annually, Palm Beach State College is not only the next step for nearly half of the college-bound seniors in our county’s public schools, it’s also the career launch pad for many professionals in our community. Palm Beach State offers four-year degree programs to support the growing demands of our community, with Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in Supervision and Management and Information Management.

Palm Beach State trains the professionals you depend on to maintain your quality of life today and builds the workforce of tomorrow. The majority of the county’s police officers, firefighters, nurses and EMTs received their training at Palm Beach State.

And that’s just the beginning. The College also is a resource for continuing education, cultural arts and online learning programs. Palm Beach State is the truest definition of a college committed to its community. It provides an affordable quality education to local students who, in turn, become vital members of the community, enhancing the lives of everyone – including you!

Over 90 percent of our associate in arts graduates successfully move on to a bachelor’s degree program. “My criminal justice classes were hands-on courses, taught by practicing law enforcement officers. Having instructors with that kind of background gave me a distinct advantage in my training. My education at the College made me stand out from my colleagues and was the steppingstone for my future career path. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my degree from PBJC.”

How your gift to education

can profoundly affect our community

When you give to the Palm Beach State College Foundation, your gift extends far beyond the dollar amount on a check. It builds momentum and grows exponentially. A single scholarship can

change an entire family’s future.

Gifts can expand with matching funds from government and other granting organizations. An endowment can create a scholarship, support faculty, launch a new program or enhance an existing program.

“As a single mother, I have struggled to make ends meet while trying to provide my children the life I never had. The scholarship from the Palm Beach State College Foundation not only lifted my spirits, it also eased my financial burden, allowing me to focus on attaining my degree. That generosity has inspired me to help others, be a better person and give back to my community.”

The Palm Beach State College Foundation:

putting your dollars to work

Why does Palm Beach State College need a Foundation?

We are tax-assisted, not tax-supported. Funding from the state has consistently decreased over the years. We depend on private support to maintain – and grow – the depth and breadth of education we provide. The Foundation’s role is to seek out community partners – individuals, foundations and area businesses – who understand the value and contributions of a college of this scope and purpose.

There are so many different ways you can make an incredible impact on our community by supporting the educational needs of our students.

Your tax-deductible contribution can: • Provide scholarships for students • Provide funding for new academic programs • Purchase equipment and computers for ongoing programs • Enhance the quality of education and student life at Palm Beach State

Annual Scholarships These are distributed to students during the same academic year that they are funded, so your dollars are immediately applied to education. Annual contributions over a five-year commitment is all it takes to establish a named scholarship in your or someone else’s honor.

Endowed Scholarships This is a long-term scholarship plan in which your contribution is invested. The interest, earnings and dividends are then used to fund scholarships. To insure longevity, a specific contribution is required to establish this type of scholarship. This type of named scholarship recognition is provided in perpetuity.

“Over my 20 plus years working at Palm Beach State College as a counselor and associate professor, I have witnessed the transforming power that this institution has on the lives of students. The First Generation in College Student Scholarship Fund in particular has special significance for me as a donor. As a donor, I am thrilled to see my contributions fully matched by the State of Florida. My contribution is doubled! And I get some sense of control over where my tax dollars are directed.
