Your Training: You’ll learn all aspects of the electrical trade, including electrical power systems, current wiring, installation, circuitry, safety and more. Smart property owners and construction firms know that building “green” adds tremendous value to any property––so much so that it’s now considered risky to build any other way. You’ve picked the right time to enter the field or retool your credentials. Learn the latest green building standards and practices from our faculty of licensed contractors, engineers, architects, building officials and master technicians. Developed by industry experts, including those with advanced LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, our programs prepare you to participate in this fast-growing sector of the industry. The Sustainable Construction programs (pages 6-8) are held on weekday evenings and each takes 1 to 2 years to complete: Four evenings a week (1 year) or two evenings a week (2 years).

The Solar Photovoltaic and Green Building Trades programs (pages 9-10) offer full-time day classes and take just seven months to a year to complete. The College’s Center for Green Construction & Energy (page 18) offers short continuing education courses in various aspects of green building.

Your Training: In this state-of-the-art program, you’ll learn the principles and procedures of building construction, including estimating, construction materials and methods, plan interpretation and site layout, and the basics of green building. Your training also helps prepare you to take the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Green Associate exam. Your Career: Our graduates are ready for entry-level employment, and those with prior experience gain career stability. Palm Beach State provides hands-on training in solar panel design, installation and maintenance that is geared to meet the workforce demands of the fast-growing alternative energy industry.
Your Training: In about seven months, this program teaches the essential knowledge and skills required to begin a solar career. You’ll learn and practice the current techniques for installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and gain a critical understanding of industry fundamentals, including site assessment, codes and standards, PV system components and electrical/mechanical design. Your Career: Graduates new to the field are prepared for entry-level employment as a solar installer in both the residential and commercial solar industry. Those with prior experience can use their improved skills to advance their career. Machining Technology PSAV Certificate

Machinists are highly skilled individuals who produce precision parts used in manufacturing for the medical, aerospace, computer, automotive and many other industries.
Your Training: Gain current industry skills to enter or advance in the field and earn your certificate in just 13 months. You’ll master the machining trade in a state-of-the-art facility, working with top-of-the-line equipment and technology. Through classroom and lab activities, you’ll learn CAD/CAM programming, computer numerical control (CNC) programming, applied math and blueprint reading, manufacturing and inspection methods, measuring technology, and related machining concepts and theories.
Your Career: Machinists are needed in all types of manufacturing environments. Possible careers include drafter/designer, tool and die maker, computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technician, quality assurance management and manufacturing engineering.
