A JOURNEY OF

Dear Friends, I take great pride, as Artistic & Music Director of the Palm Beach Symphony (PBS), in inviting you to join me on a journey of inspiring music written by some of our greatest composers. I have crafted a program specifically for your enjoyment, and I am thrilled to share with our community fantastic masterpieces such as Haydn’s Final Symphony to Mendelssohn’s Scottish Symphony, Vivaldi’s familiar and popular Gloria, and two great concerti by Elgar and SaintSaëns, all of which will be performed by YOUR orchestra. Please welcome guest conductors Albert-George Schram and Robert Moody, two outstanding conductors who will each lead one of our fabulous concerts during the 2017/18 season. It is truly a pleasure to have them join us to help present this season’s remarkable works. I hope you will enjoy the unique interpretations and styles that these conductors bring to the music they lead. In addition, we have invited two celebrated soloists who will truly mesmerize you with their extraordinary playing. For our performance at Benjamin Hall at the Benjamin Upper School, we will feature one of the youngest soloists to ever perform with our orchestra. Maxim Lando is a 14-year-old pianist who is taking the musical world by storm with his astonishingly electrifying playing. At the end- of-season concert, we will have world-renowned Razvan Suma join us for our climactic finale. He is one of Europe’s youngest and most sought-after soloists. I also take great pleasure to share with you that we will be returning to Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in March. It is a beautiful church of art and history that creates a perfect ambiance for our program, which will feature the Delray Beach Chorale with Florida Atlantic University. As a music lover, I am sure you will enjoy each part of this amazing season created for you. I encourage you to join PBS in this incredible journey, and I look forward to experiencing it with you. Saludos,

Ramón Tebar Artistic & Music Director

CHILDREN'S CONCERT SERIES

The Palm Beach Symphony engages children in a fun musical learning experience with performances of one of the most internationally recognized pieces of music: Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. This tale depicts the story of a boy named Peter and his adventures with a lovable duck, an impatient bird, a fat cat, a grumpy grandfather, and a scary wolf. The Symphony, with story narration by Dale A. McNulty, partners with Ballet East to bring orchestral music to life with dance, costumes, and interactive audience participation.
