LOLA ASTANOVA World renowned pianist

Born in the former Soviet Union, Lola’s journey in music began at the age of six when her mother, a music teacher, gave Lola her first lessons. By the age of eight Astanova began appearing as a performer, achieving first international note before she turned twelve. In1996 Lola performance in Paris was featured in a UNESCO documentary Prodigies of the 20th Century. But Astanova’s promising young career had little chance to evolve in the aftermath of the Soviet collapse so she made a decision to move to America and start everything anew. But it is her passion for performing, reminiscent of the Romantic age virtuosi, that remains Lola’s greatest love. It is fitting therefore that her Carnegie Hall debut paid a rich and profound debt to her Romantic roots with a special Tribute to Horowitz concert that took place on January 19, 2012. The concert, chaired by Donald Trump and hosted by Dame Julie Andrews, became a historic occasion as Astanova delivered a triumphant performance in front of a sold out crowd of three thousand. “...Ms. Astanova made a deep impression in her vivid tribute to Horowitz on his very own Steinway. She’s a true virtuoso in the old style,” wrote the Seattle Post Intelligencer. “…Astanova rocked Carnegie Hall... She danced with the piano!” exclaimed the New York Daily News. Following the concert Lola was honored with the prestigious Vladimir Horowitz Distinguished Artist Award. Since achieving acclaim, Astanova has used her talent, time, and influence to support and bring attention to various charitable causes helping to raise funds for cancer research, New York’s 9/11 memorial, and constantly encouraging her fans to support local art and education initiatives. Outside of her music career and charitable work, Lola is a fashionista, a foodie and a lifelong soccer fan. Page 5
