On Monday, October 17th, Eddie and Ozzie from Table 26 hosted their final Dinner for a Cause benefiting the homeless dogs and puppies of Big Dog Ranch Rescue. The night featured a delicious four course meal

by Executive Chef, Amit Jain, paired with elegant, worldrenowned wines by the Trefethen Family Vineyards.

The evening was full of fun and education as Eddie and Emily Pantelides told the cold, hard truth about dogs in our community who need our help. In fact, two guests fell in love with furry friends from the event and later welcomed them into their homes.

Lauree Simmons, President of Big Dog Ranch Rescue, hoped to raise some much needed funds for cagefree bunkhouse rooms at the new facility in Loxahatchee, FL, as well as medicine for strays and other “last day� dogs they save. All in all, two bunkhouse rooms were sponsored, and the ranch raised $37,000 for voiceless dogs and puppies.

The Trumpettes’ mission was simple: “To recruit more people to vote for the Palm Beach candidate and to keep supporting Donald J. Trump”, said Toni Holt Kramer.

She is the founder of the Trumpettes, a women’s group based in Palm Beach, FL that supports President-elect Donald J. Trump. and now has members Nationwide, and also interest worldwide.

Anatomy of a Collection Who wears what? This is the question posed by the Palais Galliera’s Anatomy of a Collection exhibition. Ranging from court wear to work overalls and from celebrities to unknowns, the exhibition draws on the Galliera collection for garments and accessories illustrating fashion from the 18th century to the present day.

Examples: from among all the corsets in the Museum’s storerooms, Anatomy of a Collection is presenting Marie-Antoinette’s; and from among all the blouses, one that belonged to a First World War nurse whose name has not come down to us... The Dauphin’s suit, Napoleon’s waistcoat, Empress Josephine’s dress, Castiglione’s blouse, Cléo de Mérode’s riding jacket, a worker’s trousers, George Sand’s dress, Sarah Bernhardt’s cape, a Zouave’s uniform, Mistinguett’s T-bar shoes, Gala Dali’s shoe-hat, a workman’s apron, Audrey Hepburn’s outfit, Elsa Schiaparelli’s overcoat, the Duchess of Windsor’s dress, a dress worn by Jacqueline Bouvier (Jackie Kennedy), and more... Two hundred items with or without pedigree, but identified with the people who wore them.

Anatomy of a Collection (May 14 - October 23, 2016) and Anatomy of a Collection - Part II (November 3, 2016 – February 2017) are a selection of garments with historical associations that reflects the essence of the collection and the complex task of attribution demanded by each of these heritage pieces.

Known for being close to the surrealists of the day and especially Salvador Dali (1904-1989), Elsa Schiaparelli blends art and fashion with humor and audacity.This extravagant “Hat-Shoe”, taking shape of a high-heeled court shoe, is without doubt one of the most important emblematic of the surrealist current in fashion. Inspired by a photograph taken in 1933 by Gala Dali (1894-1982) of her husband Salvador wearing a woman’s shoe on his head, the “HatShoe” appears in 1937-1938 winter collection from Schiaparelli.

After having read the historical fiction by Robin Maxwell Signora da Vinci, I felt compelled to visit the historical city.

Piazza della Signoria is an L-shaped square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy.

It was named after the Palazzo della Signoria, also called Palazzo Vecchio. It is the focal point of the origin and of the history of the Florentine Republic and still maintains its reputation as the political hub of the city.[1] It is the meeting place of Florentines as well as the numerous tourists, located near Ponte Vecchio and Piazza del Duomo and gateway to Uffizi Gallery.

The sculpture, “Searching for Utopia,” is part of “Spiritual Guards,” an exhibit by Belgian artist Jan Fabre that opened on April 15, 2016. The three-part exhibit currently has works in Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio The Uffizi Gallery is a prominent art museum located adjacent to the Piazza della Signoria in central Florence, region of Tuscany, Italy. The building of Uffizi complex was begun by Giorgio Vasari in 1560 for Cosimo I de’ Medici so as to accommodate the offices of the Florentine magistrates, hence the name uffizi, “offices”.

Rome The Spanish Steps are a set of steps in Rome, Italy, climbing a steep slope between the Piazza di Spagna at the base and Piazza Trinità dei Monti, dominated by the Trinità dei Monti church at the top. The stairway was designed by architects Francesco de Sanctis and Alessandro Specchi.

The Colosseum, is an oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of concrete and sand, it is the largest amphitheatre ever built. Although partially ruined because of damage caused by earthquakes and stone-robbers, the Colosseum is still an iconic symbol of Imperial Rome. It is one of Rome’s most popular tourist attractions and has also links to the Roman Catholic Church, as each Good Friday the Pope leads a torch-lit “Way of the Cross” procession that starts in the area around the Colosseum.

Enhancing International Understanding

The World Affairs Council of Palm Beach opened its 4th season Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Colony Palm Beach Pavilion Room.

Dr. Mehmet Gurses, Associate Professor, Dept of Political Science at Florida Atlantic University, addressed an enthusiastic audience of 150 members and guests on “Turkey: Before and After the Coup”. His discussion, often with personal references to his Kurdish ethnic ancestry, gave detailed insight into Turkey’s radical change from a Secular Democracy to an Islamist State. Since the U.S continues to maintain air bases inTurkey, Dr. Gurses noted how carefully the U.S. must tread in its diplomatic relations with the Turkish Islamist regime.

On Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Colony Palm Beach Pavilion Room, Bryan Riley addressed an audience of 170 World Affairs Council members and guests. Riley, a scholar with the Heritage Foundation, spoke about the value of Free Open Trade. He discussed how heavy government regulations stop the flow and balance of international trade - and noted that US trade agreements, such as NAFTA, cannot be implemented unilaterally but must be set and approved by Congress.
