HAPPY 93RD BIRTHDAY

On Tuesday, Aug. 2, residents rallied around Frank Hendrick, an American hero, celebrating his 93rd birthday. Hendrick served in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic. He never wanted to take his life preserver off and went as far as wearing it in the shower. His friends say he has a great attitude and good sense of humor.

HAPPY 100TH!

Naomi Tinnin McLaurin was born on Aug. 6, 1916. She is the youngest of nine children, with Naomi the only one to reach 100. She is a former home economics teacher at a high school in Clinton, North Carolina. She married Arthur Leroy McLaurin, and they had two children: Arthur Leon McLaurin of Palm Coast, and Naomi Yvonne Jukes of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Along with hundreds of well wishes from family and friends, McLaurin received a birthday greeting from President Barak Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
