BRIEFS Seabreeze student makes shooting threats while gaming They told him the FBI would come after him, but he didn’t listen. A 15-year-old Seabreeze High School student was arrested on Friday, Aug. 16, after, while on a video game chat, he vowed to kill seven people at school. He later told the FBI he was only joking, but he was arrested on a felony charge. The teen was using Discord, a gaming chat platform, when he asked others what they would think if he shot up the school, a tipster told the FBI. Other gamers warned him not to joke about it, saying the FBI was going to crash through his window to pay him a visit if it wasn’t careful. Another said it was a “serious problem” that shouldn’t be joked about. Still, the teen persisted, saying, “I … vow to bring my fathers m15 to school and kill 7 people at a minimum.” Discord then banned the gamer from the platform. The conversation occurred on Aug. 15 between 2 and 4 p.m. Late that night, at 1 a.m. Aug. 16, two FBI agents arrived at the teen’s house, and he admitted to making the comments. His mother said there was an “old gun” in the house but that the teen did not have access to it. The teen was not allowed to go to school that morning, and, at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 16, he was arrested in cooperation with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
