BRIEFS Ormond man killed in hit-and-run crash An 84-year-old Ormond Beach man on a mobility scooter was killed after he was struck by a drunk driver in an SUV near Winn Dixie around 6:26 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30. Ormond Beach Police reported that witnesses saw the driver, 61-year-old Kevin Zoeckler, of Ormond Beach, step out of his car and look at the victim before getting back in his car and driving away. The victim was identified as Kenneth Daniel Strickler. Zoeckler was spotted by a Volusia Bureau of Investigations detective at Wawa. He later told offers he wasn’t leaving the scene, that he was going back, and “I just don’t know what to do at the moment.” Zoeckler was arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
