Fight to the finish THIS WEEKEND First Friday kicks off Flagler Beach’s festivities at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Veterans Park, with live music. The pier lighting will be at 6 p.m.; free 3D glasses will be available at the pier bait shop. The annual parade begins with Santa skydiving to the beach at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. The parade is hosted by Flagler Beach Rotary. See Page 5 for details on the State Road A1A detours for the parade.

For a quarter of a century, the Volusia Civic Ballet has been a presence in the community during the holidays, and this year is no exception. Celebrating 25 years, the nonprofit organization is presenting three performances of “The Nutcracker” ballet
