BRIEF Toys for Tickets: Christmas in July program returns The Flagler Beach Police Department’s annual Toys for Tickets program, which inspired last year’s “Christmas in July,” will return in 2022. From July 10 through July 31, Flagler Beach Police Department officers, at their discretion, are issuing “toy waivers” along with warning citations for non-criminal traffic offenses and/or city parking offenses. The “toy waiver” provides motorists with information on how to donate a new, unwrapped toy to the Police Department in lieu of paying a fine. Citizen participation is voluntary. At the end of the campaign, the Police Department will turn over all donated toys to the local nonprofit Christmas Come True. Christmas Come True provides a complete Christmas experience for area parents who can’t afford a traditional Christmas for their families. Motorists who participate will be instructed to drop off a new, unwrapped toy between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Flagler Beach Police Department, at 204 South Flagler Ave., Flagler Beach.

SPLASH MOB World’s largest swim lesson Palm Coast kids came together at the Frieda Zamba Pool on June 23 to take part in the 2022 World’s Largest Swimming Lesson. The event, organized by the World Waterpark Association, is held on the same day in cities around the globe to help children learn how to swim and inform communities about the value of swim lessons in preventing child drowning, the leading cause of injury-related deaths in children ages 1 to 4.
