POPD mourns The Port Orange Police Department reported the following in a press release: “With the family’s permission, we share news of the passing of one of our own due to COVID-19. Officer Justin White was a veteran member of our department family. He was a dedicated husband, father, and a fierce advocate for the officers he worked alongside. Officer White passed away this morning and leaves behind a loving wife, children, and police department. Officer White served the community as a police officer for 15 years. In his time as an officer he was a K9 handler/ instructor, Crime Suppression Team member, and a union president. We are grateful for his service, dedication, and sacrifice to our agency and the community.”

Back to work Council 8086 resumes work on Habitat for Humanity

Members of Our Lady of Hope Council 8086 recently resumed volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity after a layoff of nearly a year and a half. “We built the sidewalls for an entire side of the house,” said past Grand Knight David Dollieslager. “We never know what we will be doing when we show up — it all depends on the stage of preparation for each house.
