Carlson Takeoff – Innovative software for fast, accurate project estimation Carlson Takeoff is the first ever AutoCAD®-based site-estimating package, which allows users to generate estimates faster and more accurately than any other software package on the market.

Furthermore, output capabilities to survey equipment and 3D machine control streamline the office to field process saving you time while also simplifying your software needs.

The Fastest Way to Estimate With both digitizing and CAD capabilities, Carlson Takeoff offers a “no limitations” approach to the estimator by handling both paper and electronic plans. However, the fastest way to generate an estimate is by using the electron files or “digital plans” from formats such as DWG, DXF, or LandXML. Since Carlson Takeoff is built on the AutoCAD engine, it can work with these “digital files” in ways other estimating packages simply can’t. Drawing files from engineers can be cleaned up and simplified for estimating in one powerful command, Drawing Cleanup.

Innovated commands like Drawing Inspector check the integrity of the drawing and a host of routines like Polyline Utilities and Change Elevation, allows you to revise the drawing as easily as the engineer could.

The bottom line is: the tedious work associated with other software packages to estimate from “digital plans” is eliminated, saving you countless hours of needless work digitizing or working in a program that’s not AutoCAD based.

The Most Accurate Way to Estimate With the ability to work directly with electronic files, Carlson Takeoff retains the position accuracy of the source design plan. Digitized or scanned vectorized paper drawings lose this accuracy due to the scaling resolution issues during copying and errors from manually tracing over paper drawings.

No digitized or scanned paper drawing can be used to build from and is only useful for rough grading cut and fill volumes.
