SDR33 with GSR2300 Workflow GPS Station (Base) Set-up Preliminary set-up 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.
Set up the GPS and radio antenna. Connect the GPS antenna cable to the antenna and GSR2300. Connect the radio antenna cable to the 35Watt radio. Insert the internal battery into the GSR2300. Connect the radio cable from port B of the GSR2300 to the 35Watt radio. Connect the radio battery to the radio cable. Connect the SDR33 RTK Controller to port A. Power on the GSR2300. Check the #USED: under the SatInfo menu on the GSR2300 to make sure that the GSR2300 is tracking at least 4 satellites (otherwise the base position may not be set correctly from the SDR33 in the following steps).
SDR33 base set-up 1. 2.
3. 4. 5.
Create a new job in the SDR. Select Instrument in the FUNC menu to appear like the following. • Type GPS RTK • Model GSR2200 (this selection works for GSR2300) • Rcvr mode Base • Base elev mask 10 • Store raw obs No (set to Yes if you might post-process the data) • The Description, Serial number and Antenna information is not important (if you calibrate to the base point, then the appropriate antenna information should be entered under the F1 screen. Press the OK key and answer Yes to confirm the receiver set-up. Unplug the controller. Check the TX/STAT light on the radio to make sure it is transmitting (blinking) once per second. The RX (receive) light should be off otherwise you are receiving some interference.
Rover Set-up Preliminary set-up. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.
Set up the GPS and radio antenna on the pole/backpack. Connect the GPS antenna cable to the antenna and GSR2300. Connect the radio antenna cable to the 2Watt radio. Insert the internal battery into the GSR2300. Connect the radio cable from port B of the GSR2300 to the 2Watt radio. Connect the SDR33 RTK Controller to port A. Power on the GSR2300.

8. Check the RX light on the radio to make sure that it is receiving (blinking) once per second. This indicates that the radio transmission functioning properly.
SDR33 rover set-up 1.
Select Instrument in the FUNC menu to appear like the following: • Type GPS RTK • Model GSR2200 (this selection works for GSR2300) • Rcvr mode Rover • Store raw obs No (set to Yes if you might post-process the data) • The Description and Serial number is not important 2. Set the ANT above the F1 key to the following (be sure to measure the vertical antenna height to the notches in the antenna and enter that value when running Topography): • Antenna type User • Ant meas method Vertical • Vertical offset 0 3. Press the OK key to accept the antenna information. 4. Press the OK key to accept the receiver set-up. 5. Select Configure Reading in the FUNC menu and set the recording parameters according to your needs. 6. Check the Tolerances and Units in the FUNC menu to make sure that they meet your requirements. 7. Select Topography in the SURV menu. 8. Enter your GPS station point number, antenna height and position. (If you don’t calibrate to the base point, this information is trivial). 9. Press the Read key to take your measurements and enter the appropriate point number, antenna height and code for each point. The OK key accepts the point.
GPS Calibration 1.
Enter the known coordinates of control points that will be used in a calibration through Keyboard Input, a coordinate list uploaded from a PC, stored as a POS record when shot with a total station or converted to a POS record through the VIEW key. 2. Run Topography and record a GOBS record at each control point being sure to use the same point number as in the control point list. 3. Select GPS Coord System in the SURV menu and select a horizontal, vertical or a horizontal and vertical calibration. (A horizontal calibration requires a minimum of 2 points, vertical calibration requires a minimum of 3.) The SDR will search for point numbers that have both a POS record and a GOBS record. If the current job database in the SDR does not have a POS and GOBS record for a particular point number, that point will not and can not be added to the calibration. (The POS record should contain the actual coordinate for the point.) 4. Press the OK key to compute the calibration. Press the OK key and answer Yes to accept the calibration. (The calibration can be performed before, during or after the survey.) All GPS data (not ETS data) will be updated whenever the calibration has been computed and accepted. All future calibrations within the same job will overwrite the existing
