3rd Year Studio/ Work/Live Apartments/ New York, NY Two bridge Residential represents a new type of affordable, green and healthy urban living. This housing complex holds work and living spaces for artist residence. The design is inspired by nyc fabric and environmental characteristics such as maximizing light and ventilation, as well as using half of the site’s buildable area for green court yards. This creates a new architectural element and identity for the community. The three buildings house three different size apartments that shift in and out for max light exposure and ventilation.

The main focus of the design was to provide security for the residence even when the program allows the public access to specific areas such as the galleries and view to the courtyards. the private and public spaces have an interlocking connection but the privacy of the residence is not invaded.

900 sqft units (Duplex)
The units were designed with the purpose of creating more exposure to light and ventilation. The aggregation of the units also allow the hallways to have exposure to natural light.

FIREHOUSE IN DUMBO, BROOKLYN 02 03
Green Areas and Communal Public spaces
Analysis
Rear Elevation
After analyzing the Dumbo neighborhood, I wanted to create a space for the community to be able to use with a variation of functions that reflect the neighborhood. Dumbo is also becoming a touristic area because of its amazing views that attract people all year round. The waterfront parks and accessibility to the ferry also bring in people from all over the city. Finally, the amount of art exhibitions is also a focal point in the neighborhood. Spaces for art installations is something that I also wanted to integrate in my public spaces. Right Elevation Pamela Funes-Montaldo / Portfolio Samples / 2015
