GEOMETRIC WAVES First Year Studio | Spring 2018 | 8 Weeks
Hand Drafting, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign The objective of this project was to redesign Sidney Friedman Parklet in Downtown State College, PA and to create a public space that would connect the school and the community. After speaking with the Borough of State College, their established goal was to have a space that would be able to hold events for large crowds of people. There was no limit as to what we could implement into our designs, so I took that opportunity to create Geometric Waves. Keeping this in mind, I took the approach of designing a space that would maintain the view of the high school football field while also being flexible enough to accommodate for the different needs of the surrounding community. This particular design focuses on connecting the two communities while also focusing on sustainability. Geometric Waves is a space where people can immerse themselves in the community or have moments of isolation and respite in nature.

TRANSITION THROUGH TIME Second Year Studio | Fall 2019 | 3 Weeks
Hand Drafting, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator The location of this site is Talleyrand Park in Bellefonte, PA. After heavy research, a site visit, and a site analysis, I learned the history of Bellefonte, the park itself, and the community. My approach for this design involves researching the circulation, access, businesses, income, and the people visiting the site. With this, I decided to take my concept in the direction of preserving the rich history of Bellefonte while also introducing the modern world; the direction in which Bellefonte continues growing closer to. In hopes of making Talleyrand more of a destination for future generations, I designed using my pedestrian use and circulation analysis. I noticed early on that the existing site lacked areas of activity and pathways were limited to only around the site. There was no pathway for people to cross the site. Transition Through Time breaks the site into different spaces of recreation while also adding more entry points and more ways to get around the site.

Iterative Process
The images above show two iterations of ideas for the design of Talleyrand Park. Keeping the concept in mind, I drafted plans that focus on organizational systems and programs in an attempt to figure out the best way to represent the idea of travelling from past to present.
14
Visionary Perspective
This hand drafted perspective features this idea of bridging the gap between Bellefonte’s rich history and the modern world. Having a Neoclassical bridge connecting the two parts of Talleyrand Park references the heavy history behind the town and its architecture.
15
Brighter Developments
Using Adobe Illustrator and AutoCAD, a simple concept diagram was made; the dark grey symbolizes the preservation of the rich history of the park and the white symbolizes the growth towards modernization.
Program Diagram
In hopes of creating more spaces for activities, I broke the site down into many pieces and created opportunities for specific programs within. Programs consist of picnic areas, gardens, and a play area.

Contrasts in Space
This is the proposed design for Talleyrand Park. In the center of the plan, there is a raised platform with vegetation for people to walk over when crossing the bridges from either direction.

LATTICE OF CIRCULATION Second Year Studio | Fall 2019 | 6 Weeks
Hand Drafting, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign This project focuses on designing a landscape that connects Bartram’s Garden North to not only the surrounding community, but also to the city across the Schuylkill River. The Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporations (PIDC) is in the process of designing this site for their business campus, and it is my task to design something connective that ties together the community, a boating program for the Schuylkill River, the city across the water, and the business campus. My concept for this particular design is to add more circulation, specifically the lattice found in the surrounding neighborhoods, while also bringing in more color and art in the interest of the community. Pops of color can be found in this design in inspiration of Roberto Burle Marx. By using circulation familiar to the people and incorporating art similar to the art programs provided by the Borough, this design attempts to bring more people in regardless of their age.

Circulation and Open Green Spaces
RAIL ROUTES MAIN CAR ROUTES SECONDARY CAR ROUTES SUPPORTING CAR ROUTES
After conducting an analysis study on the flow of traffic and green spaces, I learned that there is a lack of circulation on the site in comparison to its surrounding areas which have a lattice structure of roads and pedestrian routes. in addition to that, Bartram’s Garden North is in the middle of other green spaces, yet it exists as a landfill.

Master Plan: Making Marx With Circulation
This is the final design for Bartram’s Garden North; there is the proposed building plans from PIDC as well as the required boat launch for the boating program and parking lots. Additional design elements consists of observation decks, a sport plateau, an adventure play area, and picnic seating along the waterfront.

SITE GRADING Second Year Studio | Fall 2019
Hand Drafting, AutoCAD The following site plan shows the cut and fill of a design created where the task was to site grade around three buildings, each with a different requirement. For example, one building was to have contours running through it while for another, it was not allowed.
