The Tokaido Shinkansen
BACKGROUND On October 1, 1964, the inaugural Bullet Train between Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka started running on the Tokaido Shinkansen. The Tokaido Sanyo Kyushu Shinkansen runs through the centre of Japan, connecting Tokyo, Shizuoka, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Hakata, Kumamoto, etc. The Tokaido Shinkansen is recognised for being far more environmentally friendly than other high-volume, high-speed transit options, as environmental concerns are rapidly increasing worldwide.
CHECK-IN I travelled on the Nozomi 220, from Osaka to Tokyo. The train was expected to depart from Shin Osaka station at 1030. I noticed that reservations can be made at Tokaido Sanyo Kyushu Shinkansen Online Reservation Service, from the ease of one’s home. This is very convenient, as it enables passengers to make and alter their reservations anywhere. They can also board the Shinkansen with a QR ticket.

BOARDING The station was bustling with people when I reached it. At the scheduled time of 1030, boarding began. The Nozomi train, which I was travelling on, is said to be the fastest Shinkansen train running between Shin Osaka and Tokyo. It runs up to 300 km per hour, and its departure and arrival times are fabled to be accurate.
THE SEAT I was seated in the executive class compartment. I ensured that I booked window seat 1 D, which framed breathtaking views of Mount Fuji on my journey. The seat was conveniently located close to a spacious baggage area and I could store my luggage without any hassle. There were power outlets located in the centre armrest and were compatible with my laptop and mobile chargers. The comfortable seat had an adjustable footrest with plenty of legroom which made the journey comfortable.
THE JOURNEY The Nozomi 200 train went at a maximum speed of 285 km per hour. The railway carriages were well maintained, with each chair car being temperature-regulated. For the entirety of the journey, the train compartment had a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. I enjoyed the view of Mount Fuji, the natural wonder of Japan, as it passed by my train window. The train made a few stops at Kyoto, Yokohama, Nagoya, and finally, Tokyo. The timely announcements that were made before the train pulled into each station
