AIRPORT COMPANY FINAVIA is increasing the amount of liquids allowed in hand baggage at Helsinki airport. Passengers will now be able to take up to two litres of liquids through security in the departures hall at Helsinki airport. is is a result of the airport’s development project which aims for smoother and more stress-free security controls. e rst phase was completed last summer and saw the creation of a new security area with eight control lines featuring new scanners that do not require passengers to remove electronics and liquids from their hand luggage. e second phase was completed this month and included two additional security lines. Helsinki airport follows several other airports which are relaxing restrictions on liquids in hand luggage. Amsterdam Schiphol has had CT scanners in place since May 2021, while London City airport became the rst major airport in the UK to relax restrictions in April 2023, following the implementation of new generation CT scanners at security.
