INTRODUCTION This book represents a few things I love: second chances, friends and Texas. It is the second edition of
Spectacular Homes of Texas, and it’s brimming with all the professionals I originally approached to be in my first book. I don’t blame them for questioning my vision—it was grand and full of dreams. But they didn’t know if they should take a leap of faith on a concept I could only describe to them in words. Luckily, Spectacular Homes of Texas, a dream come true, was a huge success. In its second printing, it is still found on bookstores throughout Texas—which is why we had to change this books’ title to
Beautiful Homes of Texas.
Thank you to all the decorators and designers who trusted in my vision for this second-edition book and allowed your beautiful work to grace the pages of what is now the largest collection our publishing group has ever produced to date.
Each chapter is lavishly illustrated with photos that feature beautiful furniture, art and a wealth of other luxurious interior furnishings. Whether it’s the designer’s personal home or that of a client, the photographs define exemplary decorating and design excellence. There is something for all to appreciate, from a breathtaking French-style mansion in Houston to a contemporary and sophisticated high-rise penthouse overlooking the Dallas skyline. A home is not truly beautiful unless it’s filled with love, which may be the love of an art collection, the love of entertaining family and friends or the love of antique family furniture. In my home, love is in the moments spent with friends I adore, who inspire my creativity and who bring me peace, the smell of my golden retriever’s head when I lean down to kiss him, the sound of laughter over wine with my girlfriends and the feeling of soft white cotton sheets. I encourage you to surround yourself with whatever material comforts you love and also with cherished friends and family who make a home truly beautiful. On the following pages, you will find plenty of inspiration to motivate the decorator in you.
