Inspiration comes from many places, but sometimes a person is just born with it. Such is the case for Tami Winn, who discovered her love for all things floral at a young age. By 19, she was managing a flower shop—before long, she branched out and began her own business. Today Tami, owner of event planning company Tami Winn Events, specializes in much more than floral design as she guides brides down the aisle in luxury and style. However, her affection for flowers hasn’t been overlooked. She takes pride in designing bouquets, boutonnières, arrangements, and ceremony and reception décor, which can all be described as anything but ordinary. Meeting and consulting with her brides and grooms allows Tami to put together an entire wedding package around their style and personality. Using a detailed storyboard, she presents the theme to her brides and watches their imaginations bloom.

With her roots dug deep in Fort Worth, Tami has built up strong relationships with some of the best venues in the area. This ensures that her brides can say their vows in an establishment that fits their distinct wedding day dream. Tami also provides a bevy of services on her wedding coordination menu. After the initial consultation, she’ll help with items like setting a budget, selecting the venue, attending vendor meetings, planning the menu, and managing the events of the special day. From the proper wording of the invitation to the correct way to arrange the wedding party and the perfect timing of the first dance and toasts, Tami Winn Events is known for planning weddings that are unique to each couple. Tami’s eye for detail also makes her an expert in event design. She and the bride work together to select colors, linens, and lighting, and even find the perfect placement of tables and placeholders. four years, seven months, and 12 days before he popped the question. After a day at the Dallas Arboretum posing for their first professional photos together, Jason got down on one knee and asked her the long-awaited question. After happy tears and phone calls to family, Jason suggested they choose a date that would commemorate that special day in the gardens. It was the exact amount of time they’d dated before their engagement—4/7/12. After enlisting the talents of Tami Winn Events, the big day finally arrived. She wore a Watters ball gown, adorned with silk organza flowers from hip to hem. He wore a grey suit, complete with a heart-shaped birchwood boutonnière. The setting was romantically lit and had a vintage French flair. After dinner, dancing, a quick dress change, and more dancing, they toasted to an incredible evening and escaped the next day for an unforgettable European honeymoon. 11

The idea for my little company began many years ago at an informal dinner party I was hosting for a few close friends. I had planned and prepared dinner and, as was customary, an array of desserts.It was during dessert and coffee that my friends began to suggest making a business out of my knack for cooking. The idea for a catering company for busy people on a budget was born.I decided to focus my attention on desserts which had always played a crucial part in all of my gatherings. My friends loved to taste all the varieties of cookies, cakes, and tarts that I had labored over. I loved the preparation, the pouring through stacks of cookbooks, the searching for the freshest ingredients, and finally combining them all for the precise combination of flavor and design.

Swanky Couch Swanky Couch is a stylish cocktail of a business that’s part vintage Parisian decadence and part urban throwback, but 100-percent cool. A product of love between husband and wife team Brad and Tiffany Ross, the company combines the duo’s experience in design and global trends to offer an editorial alternative to the common photo shoot. The Rosses also provide couples with the chance to ride away from their weddings in what might be some of the hippest getaway cars ever. With a focus on renting out midcentury modern furniture, French flea-market finds, a gloriously restored ’70s Volkswagen Bus, and a sleek classic Mercedes, Brad and Tiffany incorporate a vintage vibe that recalls the gritty glamour of Polaroid snapshots from any number of decades and locales—from the Left Bank to a Mad Men-inspired dinner party. met in January of 2002—he was

chairman of the board for the Texas branch of the American Electronics Association; I was executive director for the central Texas branch. I had known Glenn as an acquaintance for several years and had always considered him my favorite board member. Glenn spent a great deal of time in Austin during the 2003 legislative session, working to pass a bill through the legislature. I offered to be his ride to and from the airport. On one of those trips, we stopped for coffee. That trip to the coffee shop changed our relationship forever. After a year and a half of dating, Glenn proposed on New Year’s Eve, with all of my family present. After three years of dating, we got married.Our wedding, like our relationship, was driven by family. Our wedding party was entirely comprised of family members—Glenn’s son was a groomsman and his daughter a bridesmaid, and my 8-year-old daughter was not only a flower girl.
