fter a little while, they called my name because it was my turn to see the doctor. A nurse took us to a room to wait for the doctor. When he came in, we told him what happened. Then he gently checked my head and ears.

nd then he shined a little light in my eyes. The doctor told us that I needed to get a CT scan so he could see if I hurt my head on the inside. He told me that a CT scan is a special kind of X-ray that takes pictures of the inside of your body. CT machines are big and are kept in hospitals and x-ray clinics.

o help me hold still for the pictures, she put a really big belt around my chest, and a little belt around my head.
While she fixed the belts, I made believe that she was getting me ready for a trip into outer space. Three. . . Two. . .One. . . Blast Off!

he had me close my eyes for just a second so she could line up the machine.
While she was working, I had fun thinking about what it would be like to soar through space.

he machine made a lot of noise. . . it sounded like my mom’s washing machine. But it was more fun to play like it was my rocket engine roaring.
The table moved inside the machine, just a little bit, to help get the best pictures of my head.

he technologist thanked me for holding so still. I told her she was right . . . it didn’t hurt at all. She said they would take a few minutes to look at my pictures, and then they could decide if they needed to take any more.
The belt stayed on while I waited for the nurse. I pictured Mom, Dad, Bunker and me exploring asteroids and planets!

My space adventure was fun but it was time to come back to earth . . . for a while.

hen we returned to my doctor’s office, he told me that everything was going to be all right. He said my head would probably hurt for a while, and then I would feel just fine again. He told me not to climb quite so high next time!
