Eric Arneson
Is a fourth year student of Landscape Architecture at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. From Healdsburg California, Eric studied Fine Art and Botany at Santa Rosa Junior College resulting in his passion for Landscape Design. Focused on the mixture of aesthetics, function, and ecology Eric’s work reflects the skills he has gained during his experience studying at AAU, freelance designing and working/interning for multiple firms.

1. ACADEMIC
BENDWAY PARK South/east facing aerial axonometric rendering.
An existing asphalt and concrete mixing plant located along the Russian River in Healdsburg, California is repurposed and reclaimed to maximize public access, economic activity and ecological health.

3. ACADEMIC
The goal was to create an economically and environmentally sustainable design while also providing accessibility to more riverfront areas. The site has been given a circulation pattern for ease of access for pedestrians as well as vehicles, allowing visitors to easily maneuver around the site. Recreational programs such as a playground, running loops, and tennis courts offer many user opportunities. A retail zone featuring Wine Bunkers provides fine local dining and wine tasting while a light industrial Zone would promote and invite businesses to settle in this picturesque park setting. All this business and park attendance would help generating revenue to maintain and upkeep this 100 acre park.

5. ACADEMIC
In order to create a more integrated space a grid system inspired by capillary action (water wicking) is applied. The grid is comprised of programmatic cells reacting to and collaborating with adjacent connections creating a functional and unified network. Proposed mixed use residential and commercial buildings are strategically placed to enhance site features as well as attract new users.

An integrated pair ofzero net structures provides office, retail and educational space for visitors. The visitor center willprovide information and experiences related to the natural systems of the California landscape.

A modern design was used to compliment existing architecture and maximize lawn space for the client’s children. A fire pit seating area is placed in the far end of the yard for evening dining and entertainment.

Landscape design for residential backyard in Novato, CA. The design aimed to maximize usable space with multiple programs while integrating the existing pool through circulation and planting patterns.

19. EXHIBITION
Co designer of the Sublimation, the 1st place winning design at the 2015 San Francisco Flower & Garden Show. A 6 month design process with a 5 day build and 4 day show time resulted in 7 awards including best of show and the ASLA award. Like the process of sublimation this garden focused on the drastic transition from solid to light with contrasting materials, forms and a drought tolerant planting designed for the drought crisis in California.
