CONCEPTUAL - BENDWAY PARK
THE BENDWAY
Aerial view of Bendway
The current state of the Bendway is a stark juxtaposition of a fleeting riparian habitat being crushed by massive gravel piles and steel structures. All the beach shown is impossible to access without trespassing and maneuvering hazardous unstable gravel paths.
10. CONCEPTUAL - BENDWAY PARK
Sixty percent of the riverfront within Healdsburg city limits is occupied by Syar Industries, a gravel and aggregate supplier for the region. The site is a 100 acre expanse of gravel storage piles that can exceed 60 feet in height and excavated gravel pits that flood yearly.

11. CONCEPTUAL - BENDWAY PARK
Contextual plant studies resulted in the creation of distinct plant zones strategically and appropriately placed with each serving as the catalyst for an extensive habitat restoration.

12. CONCEPTUAL - BENDWAY PARK
Meetings with local community members and landscape architects provided crucial insight into the needs and opinions of the people that will be using this site. It is clear that people want a strong connection between the town and the river.

BENDWAY AERIAL
Aerial view of Bendway Park looking south west
This proposal for the quarter mile stretch of riverfront at Bendway Park addresses both the community input and city directives. More importantly, it provides a vision that will re-connect the people of Healdsburg with their river by providing long awaited public access, economic sustainability, and habitat restoration.
18. CONCEPTUAL - BENDWAY PARK
RIVER STEPS
