Just like reading and writing, movement is a learned skill. Like ABCs and 123s, physical literacy is the ability to read, write and count but, in a physical dimension! It breaks down complex movements into fundamental components & skills, and mastery is crucial for ensuring lifelong participation & enjoyment of physical activity.

PHYSICAL LITERACY Just like reading and writing, movement is a learned skill. Like ABCs and 123s, physical literacy is the ability to read, write and count but, in a physical dimension! It breaks down complex movements into fundamental components & skills, and mastering these skills at an early age sets individuals up for lifelong participation and enjoyment of physical activity. Including the ability to confidently & competently throw, catch, jump, strike, run, kick, and move with good balance, agility & coordination, physical literacy is important for more than just participation in sport, but also navigating activities of daily life and opening social opportunities! Get started on developing your physical literacy and learning the fundamental movement skills this season!
