Dear Members and Friends, In the 1930s, there were women presented in film noirs and stage plays who knew how to grab the world by the horns to get what they desired. Their power to seduce both on screen and in life was formidable, thus creating a brainy, brassy mix of drive and subtlety. They had lots of attitude, and they displayed it artfully, using femininity to their advantage. Sexiness resides in the brain and the heart, and these women understood that—fully using the power of mystery and anticipation and knowing when to hold back, and when to go in for the kill. These women were referred to as Femme Fatales. Our latest home ambiance offering, the Home Ambiance Femme Fatale Collection, a compendium of perfume candles and perfume sachets inspired by ten female icons, was aptly launched in March, Women’s History Month. Top lifestyle editors, opinion leaders and Bangkok denizens graced the event and joined hands with Pañpuri as we paid tribute to ten of history’s fiercest females. Accordingly, it’s only fitting that Précis 05 celebrates this momentous occasion with a Femme Fatale-themed issue—no less—as our own tribute to the many milestones that women have achieved over the centuries. Our coverstory lets you dive deep into our Femme Fatale Collection, taking you back to time of pharaohs, demi-gods and queens; our Homemade section gives you tips and steps on how to make your own deodorizing sachet at home; while The Word section offers the most recent news from Pañpuri— from Bangkok, Montreal, Madrid, Sydney and even Paris!

Your Own Deodorizing Sachet at Home
In celebration of Pañpuri’s new product, the Femme Fatale perfume sachet, here’s a DIY lesson on how to deodorize your dresser at home. Clothes and items kept in storage and areas such as attics, basements or unused rooms can get musty quickly. The following steps and tips involve using simple items such as baking soda, clean socks or knee high stockings to make sachets that will freshen drawers, rooms and even smelly shoes.

Simply take a sock (a small ladies sock or a large child’s sock) and fill it with 4 to 5 tablespoons of baking soda. You can use plain socks or stockings or if you wish you can use ones made of pretty or interesting fabrics. Tip: Generic baking soda will work just as well as brand name baking sodas.

Grind some of your favorite smelling coffee beans and add the fresh grounds to the baking soda, then mix them before putting them in the sock.

To add a slightly refreshing scent, grind items such as lemon, orange or lime peels and add them to the baking soda. However, if you choose to use fruit rinds, mix them with the baking soda along with 2 tablespoons of salt for preservation.

Finish the sachet by twisting the bottom of the sock just above the bulge of baking soda and then tie a knot in the sock at the twist you made. Place the sachet anywhere you wish to deodorize. You can wrap the top part of the sock around the bulge as well so you can easily tuck the sachet away.

If you have any moist areas in your home, add several tablespoons of salt to your mixture before putting it in the sock. The salt will soak up some of the moisture in the area while the baking soda freshens it and any additives you chose will fragrance it.
