Remodeling a house while in vet school and starting my second house soon after graduating. Asked to take an advanced course in a specialized (TPLO) surgery in Boston and was the youngest member in the class. Out of all the reviews that I have received at Northgate I have yet to have one be any less than 5/5. I was also nominated for best vet in the Herald and Review. Community involvement: Help local shelters with any vet care they may need at a substantial discount.
What should the community do to attract
more young people to the area? Keep as much local business as we can and continue to improve our community and surrounding areas.
What are three things most people don’t know about you?
1. Could have had a career in home remodeling but chose to pursue further education instead in veterinarian medicine. 2. Have a wonderful girlfriend whom I share two Great Danes (Zeva and Harlow) and a 21-year-old cat (Maggie aka Mom). 3. I enjoy hunting, but not for the sport. I enjoy it more for the reason of knowing where my food comes from and how it was processed.
Schlitt
my family and the amazing families that have carried our team for the past fi ve years is my perfect Saturday.
What is the best and worst piece of advice you have ever received?
Best: If you want to be a veterinarian you have to want it more than anything because what there is to go through is harder than anything you could imagine and to make it through you have to want it more than anything you could imagine.
Worst: Just one more.
If you were a fi ctional character, who would
you be and why? After reading this question and giving it some thought before, there is no person I would want to be other than myself.
What are your three favorite movies?
“Dazed and Confused,” “Jurassic World” and “Lawless.”
What would your perfect Saturday be like?
Wake up before my girlfriend to make some co ee and breakfast to have breakfast in bed. Head to the gym after the food settles. Then either go fi shing or walk through the woods. Who inspires you to be better? My father, mother, and brother. My self drive and the desire to see how much I can really do. My girlfriend.
Who inspires you to be better? Family. My mother inspires me to be great for me, not for someone else. My father inspires me to be caring and be proud of my feelings. My grandfather, Don Souza, gifted me the opportunity to get my degrees, and I always strive to make him proud. My grandfather Ferd Schlitt, could build anything, and inspires me to be a maker. My uncles, Drew and Roger, for opening my eyes to the world, and all the people in it, and providing me the spark to want to be an architect (and back-up plan of graphic design). And then there is my family. My son, born during my fi nal year of graduate school, inspired me to pursue educational design, to support what I saw/see as the greatest need of our time, educating our children, my children. My daughter, who when born, I thought I knew how this parenting thing worked, has inspired me to love di erently, and say “yes” a lot. And last, but certainly not least, my wife, who makes everything I do possible. She has inspired me to be focused, confi dent, and determined. Dedicated to making her proud, making her want for nothing, and making her laugh (she has a great smile/laugh). And possibly most importantly, to never make the mistake of taking myself too seriously.
