All financial aid begins with the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). A financial aid expert will be here to talk about filing the FAFSA and answer any questions you have about the form. PLEASE BE HERE! Your counselors are NOT financial aid experts and cannot help you or your parents fill out the form. Beginning January 1, 2014, students and parents can access the on-line version of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

GET ON TRACK FOR THE TAKS!!! YOU WILL NEED TO REMEMBER OUR HIGH SCHOOL CODE TO PUT ON COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS, TESTING INFORMATION, OR FILLING OUT INFORMATION ON VARIOUS WEBSITES.

The U.T. Telecampus has a free online test readiness program designed to help students prepare for the TAKS test. TRACK includes diagnostic tests and learning materials in the subject areas tested on the exit-level TAKS. TRACK IS OFFERED FREE TO THE PUBLIC. The website is www.track.uttelecampus.org If you haven’t passed TAKS yet, this is another good source of preparation materials.

If you plan to attend a Texas state college or university you are required to take the THEA (or the school’s equivalent test such as the Accuplacer given at the community colleges) test before you enroll in your first college course. THEA website: www.thea.nesinc.com

Where are your applications? The priority deadline for applying for financial aid is around March 1st (actually as soon as the 2013 income taxes are filed), and MOST SCHOOLS ARE NOT GOING TO OFFER YOU A FINANCIAL AID PACKAGE UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO THE SCHOOL!! Make sense?

BE A MAVERICK! A UTA MAVERICK, THAT IS! UTA's Preview Day programs give you the opportunity to get a close-up look at what UTA has to offer, and to get answers to your questions about all aspects of the University. You'll get general information about admissions criteria for Freshman and Transfer students, as well as financial aid and scholarship presentations, all in one brief morning session. During the day you'll have the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and students, visit with representatives of many activities and organizations, and take a tour of our campus and housing facilities. You'll be able to get general information about academic departments, but you will not be able to receive any program-specific academic advising at Preview Day.

Remaining Preview Days have been scheduled for: Saturday, February 1, and April 5, 2014 You can register for Preview Day by using the form at https://www.uta.edu/admissions/previewday/index.php. JANUARY 01/16 – End of 1st Semester 01/26 - Powder Puff Football Game – Mr. Zane Reeves is the coordinator The Powder Puff Football Game is an event that pits the Senior Girls against the junior girls in a friendly game of flag football. Senior and Junior Guys will serve as cheerleaders and members of the drill team. Football players from each class will coach the two teams. FEBRUARY 02/7-9 – Senior ’14 Names T-Shirt Sales This is the traditional T-Shirt with the names of all members of the Senior Class. This is an important fundraiser for Prom and Showcase decorations. Please buy yours. The shirts make a good holiday gift for a fellow senior. Price - $20 per shirt, paid when you order Where – East Cafeteria. 02/17/18 –All Night Party - Mrs. Dianne Williams is the coordinator The All-Night Party is a chance for the Senior Class to party together. Activities include bowling, pool, video games, and all the food you can eat. Participation is optional Appropriate Dress--Casual, must meet modified school dress code. Admission Price--$45-$50 per person. Event--12:00 midnight until 6:00 am, Alley Cats in Arlington. Seniors must arrive before 1:00 am.
