As you probably know Celtic drew Juventus in the next phase of the Champions league and a historic encounter will take place on Tuesday 12 February. I'm sure you are also aware that Glasgow and Turin are twin cities, and that Strathclyde enjoys an excellent relationship with the University of Turin. For these reasons, together with Paola Pasino and Ombretta Romice from the school of Architecture, I have been organising a conference entitled Torino + Glasgow which will take place in the Court Senate room at Strathclyde on the afternoon of 8 February. The event will be introduced by the Principal, and speakers include Stuart Patrick, the Chief Executive of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Bailie Liz Cameron from the City Council, and Alberto Lalli from Turin - they will all discuss the topic of urban regeneration in the first session. This will be followed by two speakers from London who will be addressing various topics related to the culture of Turin including, of course, football.
