Our objective was to compare three municipalities of Antioquia Vigia del Fuerte, Santa Elena and San Andres Village, in order to discover their wealth, their culture and traditions, their differences, such as its people, its climate, its landscapes, its way of subsisting economically, its progress and their history in the Department.

LOCATIONS These municipalities is location in differents regions of Antioquia Department; as Vigia del Fuerte located in the area of Urabá, limits to the North with municipality of Murindo, by the East with Frontino and Urrao and southwest with to the Chocó; Santa Elena Is to the east of the city, limits to the North with Copacabana and Bello, to the east with Rionegro and Guarne, by the west with the urban area of Medellin City and by the south with Envigado; And San Andres Village Is located to the north of the Valley of Aburra, and limits to the north with San Pedro de los Milagros and Donmatias, by the east with Barbosa and by the south with Guarne.

WEATHER Its weather favors to the economy, Santa Elena has a cold climate to be located in the top of the mountains of the Valley of AburrĂĄ; VigĂa del Fuerte is a warm climate, because it is a plain on the edge of the Atrato River which favors the traditional fishing and the planting of some products such as Chontaduro and San Andres is of temperate climate, being surrounded by mountains which makes Its economy is variety. ECONOMY These municipalities stand out mainly for their economic activities, which are the ones that contribute to the development of these. In the San Andrés Village previously, its panel production was highlighted thanks to the amount of sugarcane crops, which is taken to the “Trapiches” to process it and to extract various products for consume, its coffee, mango, onion, Orange, Guava, among others. Its cattle sector is mainly Pig, Equine and Cow of Milk. In Santa Elena, its economy is based on the cultivation of potatoes, blackberries, strawberries, extractive activities of forest products, and mainly its great emblem that are the flowers, cultivated by the peasants themselves who are in charge after collecting them and arm their silletas to parade them in the Fair of the Flowers realized in Medellin. Vigia del Fuerte is mainly a farmer, for its plantations of banana, coconut, rice, achiote, borojo, chontaduro, corn and cassava, and because it is surrounded by forests and a large river (the Rio Atrato) dedicated to the traditional livestock, the explotation of wood and the fishing artisan. In these places, we can realize that livestock and agriculture are one of its main sources of income, and with which little by little its gastronomy has gone. Santa Elena

CULTURE AND TRADITIONS People of these towns have many differences in their culture. But San Andres Village and Santa Elena´s people are friendly and funny. Their clothes are similarly in this two municipalities. In San Andres Village we can find the “Sainete” traditions, his dances that are recognized by his “redoba”, and its history “Palenquera”. Its Santa Elena is known for its flowers and “silletas”, which are exhibited at the Flower Fair in the city of Medellin and Vigia del Fuerte its main cultural tradition are fishing and livestock. And at the moment it was united to the culture of Vigia del Fuerte and the San Andres (Girardota) is the existence of an EDUCATIONAL PARK Parque Educativo Girardota

FESTIVITIES AND CELEBRATIONS Santa Elena is a municipality with a rich cultural patrimony, as celebrate flowers fair also the silleteros parade and the festival of trueque. Vigia del Fuerte each year people celebrate La Virgen del Carmen festivities the 16th July, it is also patronales festivities La Vrigen de las Mercedes in September, and in Girardota, San Andres Village is celebrate the “Danza and Sainete” and the “Señor Caido” festivities

TYPICAL FOOD In these places, there is no special mention of any particular dish; however, all of the foods that are part of the cuisine of Antioquia are consumed, as is the typical paisa, which contains a portion of beans accompanied by rice, ground meat, Salt of avocado with salt, chorizo, slices of ripe banana or patacones, chicharron, the typical round arepa, black pudding (if you wish) and fried egg these foods are traditionally served in a medium size casserole; There is also the very delicious mazamorra pilada, which basically carries the corn pounded (or crushed) in stone, milk and is accompanied by something sweet as the scraped panela or sandwiches and in some cases jams. Also we can find the roasts, the fish and the consumption of drinks made with the same fruits that they collect.

TRAY PAISA INGREDIENTS 4 cups cargamanto bean. 2 green bananas in small pieces. 1 unit of grated carrot. 1 unit chopped onion heads. 3 handles of smoked hoof or pork "claw" bacon. 2 tablespoons of oil. 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce. 1 ½ cups of long onion and tomato. Salt and pepper to taste. 3 chopped medium tomatoes. 2 stems of chopped long onion. 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro. 2 cloves garlic, chopped. 6 tablespoons oil. 1 Sauvage cube of broth (Res or hen) Salt and marinade to taste PREPARATION OF THE BEANS: The day before, soak the beans in water that covers them. Drain before cooking. In the pressure cooker, place the beans, banana, carrot, onion, hoof or bacon, oil and tomato sauce. Cover with water and cook. When the pot calls reduce the fire 30 minutes, after this time add the hogao and season to your liking.
DISCLAIMER: If you do not get the cargamanto bean, you can use another kind of bean, but that is large. A little taste and ink is lost, but they are still beans. For dessert it is accompanied with a good cup of AntioqueĂąo mazamorra of cornflakes corn, bathed with ice milk and a few pieces of sandwich or panela male, if there is no mazamorra any liquid soda serves.
PEOPLE/POBLATIONS As they are places to which they have arrived with the passage of the years, people who fled from the war and the slavery looking for freedom in the time of the colony; We could say that they are great palenqueros accentamientos, as it is the San Andres Village, since the majority of its inhabitants are descendants of Afro families, irrespective of their skin color, their accent when speaking or the way in which they express themselves.
