Mandatory Vaccination Argumentative Essay
Mandatory vaccinations have been hotly debated in the United States for over two centuries, making the argument almost as old as the country itself. As early as 1809, Massachusetts became the first state to mandate the world's premiere vaccine. Authorities recognized the life–saving benefits of the smallpox vaccine. They chose to require inoculation to protect the community from further outbreaks. Public outrage ensued as some community members feared the new vaccine and believed they should be able to choose if they wished to receive it. The most vocal protestors formed anti–compulsory vaccination groups and were successful in getting laws overturned in many states. However, even the United States Supreme Court has upheld states' rights to require immunization. (A) Vaccinations should be...show more content...
Despite significant progress in the fight against preventable disease, millions still die needlessly each year. According to UNICEF, originally known as the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, a vaccine preventable disease is responsible for 2 million fatal infections worldwide each year. About 75% of these deaths occur in children under five years of age. (N) In more vivid terms, UNICEF notes that vaccine–preventable diseases kill a child every 20 seconds. (D) Due to high rates of childhood vaccination, the United States has experienced a dramatic reduction in such deaths. A comparison of the years 1950 and 2010 clearly illustrates the benefits of vaccinations. During this 60–year period, deaths from diphtheria reduced from 410 to 0, tetanus from 336 to 3, pertussis from 1,118 to 26, and polio from 1,904 to 0. Measles deaths dropped from 468 in 1950 to 0 in 2008, the last year a United States death rate was recorded. It's not surprising that vaccinations have been touted as one of the top ten health achievements of the 20th century by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Crucible: (Argument Essay) There's has been people who either have been manipulated and then there's people that have manipulated people. Being experienced with situation can make it easy for one to manipulate anyone. For example in "The Crucible" it demonstrates how one young child can manipulate everyone from children to an adult into believing her vengeance story. With the right situation experience one can manipulate with ease, but it shouldn't be easy for one to manipulate half of the people in the town. In the story "The Crucible" Abigail and her cousin are accused of being witches. IN act one it states "We did dance, uncle, and when you leaped out of the bush so suddenly, Betty was frightened and then she fainted. And there's the whole of it" (Abigail Page 1). They got caught dancing and doing things they were forbidden to do. Since that day the entire town thinks of then as witches. That being said Abigail tries to make things right. Additionally in act one Abigail states "let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word about a thing or I will came to you in the black of some terrible night" (Page 19). From there forward Abigail started to accuse Tituba. Tituba then confessed "He say Mr. Parris must be killed! And No! I don't hate that man. I don't want to kill that man". But he says, "You work for me, Tituba, and I make you free!"(Page 44).This confession and accession give's Abigail and Betty a chance to act Innocent and accuse random people as well. The accession keep coming and keep adding up. At the beginning of act one there were only 12 people accused, now there are 55 people who are going to be questioned. In act two Mary tells Elizabeth "I made a gift for you today, Goody Proctor. I had to sit long hours in a chair, and passed the time with sewing" (Page 53). Then when Mary hands the poppet she went to bed, and hale comes to talk to them. While hale was taking Cheever come to take Elizabeth. He then finds the poppet and ask questions about it. Without this layer of gases the Earth would be too cold to be inhabited, perhaps 20 degrees cooler than now. But, then amount of gases in this layer must remain constant. Even a slight increase could have drastic results. Many people believe that a one degree increase in the temperature will not cause much harm. The truth is with every degree of increase in temperature a 100 more wildlife species are put in danger of extinction. Numerous experiments and studies prove that an increased level of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, is causing climate change and causing it fast.
2) Human Activities
A) Burning of fossil fuels–This is the most prominent and deadly source of climate change. Burning of fossil fuels can release greenhouse gases ranging from carbon dioxide to ammonia. With massive industrialization currently going on, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increasing.
Transport and heating are also major energy sources. Almost 7 giga tonnes of Carbon dioxide is emitted per year. In the U.K three–fourths of energy produced comes from fossil fuels. Mineral fuels like petroleum and coal are major sources of energy. In the last 150 years more than 45 Billion tonnes of carbon dioxide has been emitted .The most problematic factor is that in the last decade; there has been no slowdown in carbon emissions.
B) Poor use of land–Plants are the only natural purifiers of air and also the most abundant. But, many trees Get

In today's society, there are many different diets that people can follow. One of those diets is called veganism. People who follow this diet refuse to consume meat or other animal products, including eggs and dairy. Veganism is becoming more and more popular for a number of reasons. Some people go vegan because they do not want to be responsible for cruelty against animals. Others choose the vegan diet for their health or to help protect the environment. No matter what the reason, the truth is clear: the vegan diet is simply the best choice. It is better for animals, better for us, and better for the Earth.
Farm animals' lives are degrading, painful, and they endure a lot of abuse. The majority of our meat...show more content... In addition to their clean consciences, vegans can boast of healthy bodies. A meat–heavy diet can be disastrous for one's health. The World Health Organization, for instance, has linked red and processed meats to colorectal cancer (O'Connor, October 2015). Plant–based diets, on the other hand, benefit our bodies in many ways. The advantages of avoiding meat are summarized in a recent article from The Duke Health Medicine News: "Vegetarian dietary patterns are associated with lower body mass, lower prevalence and incidence of diabetes mellitus, lower prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its components (abdominal obesity, elevated blood pressure and fasting blood sugar, high triglycerides and low HDL cholesterol levels), lower hypertension, lower all–cause mortality, and in some cases, lower risk of cancer" ("Vegetarian Diets", 2015, p. 4). A vegan diet offers all of the above benefits, as well as several that aren't associated withvegetarianism: "Compared to lacto–ovo–vegetarian diets, vegan diets seem to provide some added protection against obesity, hypertension, type–2 diabetes; and cardiovascular mortality" (Le & SabatГ©, 2014, p. 2142). Despite these facts, many people remain skeptical. That vegans can obtain all the nutrients their bodies need, such as protein. This skepticism is unfounded: legumes, tofu, and other staples of the vegan diet provide plenty of protein. For example, according to the Get more content

Should I Stay or Should I Go
It is time to make a decision regarding what to do after high school. The most popular decision is to go right into college. Some students say they would like to take a year off before going to college. This is called a Gap Year, meaning they have a gap in betweeneducation. Some do well, and prepare themselves for college, while others do not. Those that do take a year off have time to explore what life has to offer, and takes advantage of the deferment application, become a better person.

By taking this time off to explore what life has to offer, this decision has made several students feel more mature as young adults. They were able to understand who they have become, and able to handle pressures in life that came along such as basic stereotyping, patience with others, and feeling more mature than their peers when they return to college. With using a year in between school and college, one can defer their application to college and go figure out what type of person they will become. Some get upset with going to college that first year and by taking the year off, most students come back with some life changing skills that enable them to have the traits, skillset and firsthand knowledge to deal with the first year of college situations such as parties, ethics, and alcohol. Most students feel that by taking this time off, it helps in their growth and not just mentally, but spiritually. One female even lost faith during her first year as a result of her experience. After hearing of the rape of one of the orphans, she recalled her religious doubts: "How can God let this happen?" (Shea, J. pg. 570). Many colleges are allowing more students to apply for a gap year. "In 2009, PrincetonUniversity launched a fully subsidized international volunteering gap year option for incoming undergraduates to encourage an international perspective and

Argument Analysis: Black Lives Matter
By now, everyone knows: Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters shut down a Bernie Sanders campaign event in Seattle, Washington. The scene was chaotic. Two women jumped on stage, told Sanders that they were "going to shut down the event," and proceeded to scream at someone who looked like he was an event organizer. Sanders, somewhat confused and obviously frustrated, watched the commotion unfold from the back of the stage. During the protesters' emotional tirade, Sanders' supporters were called "white supremacists" and "a bunch of white racists." To be fair, one of the protesters made some excellent points about institutional racism in Seattle, but her delivery was off–putting and the action incoherent. Hence, I doubt anyone in the crowd gained...show more content...

By the end of the verbal exchange, the young Muslim man was basically in tears, explaining his family's decades–long struggle against US imperialism, while the elderly black woman, also almost in tears, talked about her experiences growing up in the segregated Deep South. Argumentative Essay On Climate Change
Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions.
"...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by nuclear submarines since the Cold War, according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September 2015, there would be no more sea ice. (Conner, S. 2011). Luckily, sea ice has not

Nuclear Power Argumentative Essay
Nuclear power can be defined as "any method of doing work that makes use of nuclear fission or nuclear fusion reactions" ("Nuclear Power", 2017). Nuclear power plants use nuclear fission to provide heat, which causes water to become steam. It is the steam that spins turbines and provides the energy. Then, the steam either rises up a cooling tower and is released into the air, or is cooled by being deposited into a lake or ocean (Goodman, 2017). There are three nuclear power plants in Michigan: Fermi 2, Palisades, and Cook Nuclear Plant ("Nuclear Power Plants", n.d.). Together, they produce nearly 30% of the energy used in Michigan in an...show more content...
This just goes to show how efficient the fuel in nuclear plants is at producing energy. The final reason why nuclear energy is so efficient is because nuclear power plants have a very high energy output compared to other plants. Coal plants have "an average capacity of 547 megawatts" ("Coal generates 44%", 2012). While this is decent, nuclear plants, on average, produce about double of what coal plants generate. The average nuclear plant can produce over 1,000 megawatts of energy! This makes it the most efficient way to produce electricity because of its high output of energy ("World Nuclear", 2017). But this high output is only possible because the plant can run around the clock. And that is only possible due to the uranium fuel being so powerful and efficient. Not only should we expand the use of nuclear power plants in Michigan because they are efficient, but they also should be expanded for their economical benefits.
Increasing the use of nuclear energy in Michigan would be very helpful for the economy. First of all, nuclear power is cost–effective. "Nuclear power plants are...relatively cheap to run. The operating cost of these plants is lower than almost all fossil fuel competitors, with a very low risk of operating cost inflation" ("World Nuclear", 2017). Inflation is very bad for the economy. If there were to be a shortage of coal, electricity prices would rise and people would lose jobs. Uranium,

The media is generally seen by people as a way of conveying the truth. If something is seen on TV, has been heard on the radio or something has been read in the newspapers then it is perceived as being the truth. Throughout history the media has been used as a tool to convey different messages to people. The issue of the behavior of children when exposed to violence on media has been an issue to be debated upon and studied for a very long time. There are many devices that children have access to of late which include video games, iPods, iPads, DVDs, computers and so on. Children are often said to be impressionable, this means that they do not see the world in the same way as adults do. Children tend to see things the way they are. They take things literally as they do not posses the sensibilities that are sophisticated to make a distinction between reality and fiction (Limit TV, 2010). It is a matter of great importance how much of media content children are exposed to and what exactly they are viewing on media. The issue of violence is not a new phenomenon among children and keeps increasing with time and change in technology and information technology. The causes of violence in children are seen to be multifactorial and exposure of children to media violence is said to be an important factor when it comes to the etiology of behaviors that are violent among children. There are a lot of violent behaviors shown
