Obituary
LeShawn Sylvester Rogers, affectionately known as “Chubbie”, was the youngest child born to Patricia Ann Rogers and Sylvester Rogers on August 1,1979 at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his older siblings Damian “Juggy” Blanding and Willena Rogers, grandmother Shirley Jones and grandfather Leroy Terrell.
LeShawn’s mother poured a lot of love into her son. He was raised in Queens, New York and at a young age he accepted Christ at Mount Olivet in Harlem, NY. LeShawn was educated in the Bronx and New York Public School Systems. He had an outgoing personality and always well dressed. As a child he was an avid dog lover, had a passion for music and even championed pool tournaments. Even though he was the youngest he was very protective of his older brother, they did everything together and the nickname “Chubbie” was coined by their friends.
As a young adult LeShawn relocated to Columbus, Ohio where he began to take his career aspirations and passion for music to the next level. Though a product of New York and signed to Diplomat Records, he made a name for himself while residing in the Midwest. His ambitious nature allowed him to start his own radio show titled “Diplomat Saturday’s” on Columbus Power 107.5 FM. This also led him to invest in one of Columbus largest night clubs, The Red Zone, which hosted notable celebrities.
While in Columbus, LeShawn met the love of his life, Mary Gavins. On October 9, 2016, the two were united in holy matrimony in Atlanta, GA. Their undeniable love for one another has transcended for over twenty-five years and from this union three children were born, Reål Jamyl, Le’Shawn “Lil Chubbie” Damian and Chloe Amor. The bond that Le’Shawn and Mary have, exemplifies true love in its purest form [1 Corinthians 13:4-8]. Spending time with his family was important and many witnessed the closeness that they all shared.
In 2006, LeShawn moved his family to Atlanta, Ga. In effort to blaze his own trail outside of the success of his crew, he saw an opportunity to cultivate his music career while working in the nightlife industry. He was lovingly given an extension on his childhood name and began to go by “Chubbie Baby”. In 2007, he released the single “Oh Yeah” produced by his production company Head Bangaz Entertainment. On a mission to continue to live life on his own terms, he continued to thrive in his music career. LeShawn’s work ethic allowed him to transition from rap artist/ writer/ producer to a top-level music executive for Epic Records and Hitco. He was instrumental in influencing the careers of several widely known music artists.
LeShawn departed this life on November 10, 2024, a life well lived and his ability to light up any room along with that billion-dollar smile will truly be missed. He will remain with us in spirit and in treasured moments.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Gavins-Rogers, children Real, LeShawn and Chloe, mother, Patricia Ann Rogers, father, Sylvester Rogers, grandmother, Ethel Terrell, brother, Q, his two aunts Laura Biggins and Raquel Terrell, his two nephews Damian and Mel, and his niece Charmaine, godmother, Sandra Robinson, along with his cousins Efrain, Bernard, Raymond, Christine, Chelsea and special cousin, Carlise [dedicated donor], with a host of other relatives, close friends and business colleagues.

TO MY BELOVED WIFE
God blessed me with the best gift I can ever have, MY WIFE. We came from the bottom together. From the block to the studio, you held me down on a level no one can imagine and we always did it our way! Everyone around us knows how much I love you and it shined bright on the best day of my life, October 9, 2016, my wedding day I made history with my love, my best friend. Love you Forever.

What’s up Pops!
I wanted you to know how great of a superhero you were to me.
To be a hero at all, you have to fight battles with all you got and win.
But you made me realize to be a “SuperHero” some of the battles you fight you may lose and it’s about what you do next after your lost that makes you Super. You fought long and you fought hard. Your drive and ambition to see everyone around you win before yourself was endless. You never played by the rules, you made your own. That’s why you will forever be my SuperHero.
I know you probably up there next to god as one of his soldiers, because you just don’t know how to not work (lol) or your taking a good nap with your mouth wide open.
Love you!
Rea’l
Oh Daddy! There is so much I can say about you… I am always going to appreciate the wise words you told me. I will always thank you and appreciate you for being in my life and trying your hardest to be my father. My daddy, my protector, my laughing buddy and my twin. Thank you for always letting me know that you loved me soooo much!
- Love Your Little “Stink” Chloe
You will forever be someone I would call my best friend and a father. I will never forget the special moments when we hung out like watching movies, going out to eat, the studio, and just chilling while you was just falling asleep (lol). I’ll remember the talks we had the good ones and bad ones and I took them to heart and will forever treasure them. You gave me everything even when we didn’t have it altogether, but you always give me, Rea’l, Chloé, your unconditional love and support and you will continue to do that while you look over us.
I love you, Dad!

To the brother I never really had in my life our bond goes deeper than anyone would ever know. I never had toquestion your loyalty cause you was there for me even in rooms I wasn’t, I appreciate all the time that was spent and all the hours of bonding with you. I know god has a bigger purpose for you even tho you are no longer here with us I know I gained another angel and will be forever protected. Chubbs, you are a legend and will forever remain one of God’s favorites. So thankful I gotta chance to spend the last few days and hours with you, seeing that smile on your face showed me how much of a warrior you are. I am blessed to be called one of your best friends, best man and brother. Thank you and I will forever be there for the family and continue to hold your legacy high.

Whats up Big Bro! So much to say and not enough words.
I just want to thank you for being a great friend and role model to me since the day we met. Thanks for always having my back and showing me the way a real man should handle all situations. Thanks for being my eyes when I want looking and my ears when I wasn’t around. Thanks for showing me how to lead a crew and how to lead your family and to know the difference. Thanks for loving my family like they were your own, and thanks for making me apart of your family. I love you for everything that you stood for and did during your time here. I always have your voice in my head while making all decisions and I know you will always be with me like you told me in one of our last conversations. I will make you proud and do what I know you would want me to do.
Love your little bro, Trav

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Revelation 21:4 (NIV)
Father God, whoever is listening to this message Father God, let's look out for these people, Father God. Let's make sure we keep our hands over them God as well, and their families. We know one day we gotta come home, but just not right now. Cause we got some so much stuff to do down here and I know it's a little bit of time.
So give us the energy. God, give us the coverage. God, give us the strength. God, give us the faith. God, give us the power. God, give us the knowledge, God. So we can make so we can be who we wanna be and that's a better person today.
Thank Father God. Amen.
