Mindi Abair & The Boneshakers Fri, april 26 @ 7 & 9:30 pM One of the most recognized and sought-after saxophonists, two-time GraMMy nominee Mindi abair has been electrifying audiences with her dynamic live performances and sax prowess since her debut album in 2000. no one since junior Walker has brought saxophone and vocals in one package to the forefront of modern music with such abandon. she has garnered ten number 1 radio hits, six Top 5 solo records, and two number 1 spots on the Billboard Contemporary jazz album chart. To help translate her sound to her live shows, abair enlisted longtime friend and The Boneshakers founder randy jacobs (Bonnie raitt, Was not Was, Willie nelson) to inject his brand of detroit rock/funk. The collaboration was undeniable, and it lead to an almost immediate decision to join forces creatively. Their first studio album was released in september 2017 as Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers, The EastWest Sessions. it debuted number 3 on the Billboard Blues album Chart and reached number 1 on the Blues rock album rMr chart. The band won a 2018 independent Music award for Best Blues song fan award for “Pretty Good for a Girl” featuring joe Bonamassa and they’ve received 9 nominations at the 2018 independent Blues awards.
43620 PAPI ONEWORLD 4 4_2_2019
Boney James tues, april 30 @ 7 & 9:30 pM it’s been a full quarter-century since a young saxophonist and composer released his debut recording as a leader, Trust. in september of 2017, Boney james released his 16th album titled, Honestly, following his 2015 release, futuresoul, which spent 11 weeks at the number one spot on the Billboard Contemporary jazz Chart. Cited as virtually creating the urban jazz genre—melding contemporary jazz with hip-hop sensibilities—the crossover virtuoso has racked up sales of more than three million records, four riaa Gold albums, four GraMMy nominations, a soul Train award, nominations for two naaCP image awards, and 10 Cds atop Billboard’s Contemporary jazz albums chart. in 2009, Billboard named him one of the Top 3 Contemporary jazz artists of the decade along with kenny G and norah jones. during the course of his 25-year career, he has built a solid reputation as a compelling live performer who averages between 50 and 80 gigs a year. Conversant on the tenor, alto, and soprano saxophones, james embodies the phrase horn of plenty. ‘James swaggered across the stage like a blacktop hero draining treys on an overmatched opponent. He even weaved his way through the audience, never missing a beat and all but daring the crowd not to have a good time.’ Boston Globe.
43620 PAPI ONEWORLD 5 4_2_2019
Marshall Crenshaw Fri, June 7 @ 7 & 9:30 pM Over the course of a career that’s spanned three decades, 13 albums, GraMMy and Golden Globe nominations, film and Tv appearances (Buddy holly in la Bamba) and thousands of performances, Marshall Crenshaw’s musical output has maintained a consistent fidelity to the qualities of artfulness, craftsmanship and passion, and his efforts have been rewarded with the devotion of a broad and remarkably loyal fan base. his first big break came in 1978 playing john lennon in Beatlemania. Crenshaw recorded his debut single ‘something’s Gonna happen,’ which led to a deal with Warner Bros. his debut album, Marshall Crenshaw, was acclaimed as a masterpiece upon its release in 1982 and established him as a singular songwriter, record maker, and guitarist. The album spawned the hit single ‘someday, someway,’ and other classics such as ‘(you’re My) favorite Waste of Time’, ‘Whenever you’re On My Mind,’ and ‘Cynical Girl.’ along with touring around the country and the occasional recording project, Crenshaw currently hosts his own radio show, The Bottomless Pit. Other current projects include a documentary film-in progress about legendary record producer Tom Wilson.

robert cray band Sun, april 28 @ 7 pM robert Cray has been bridging the lines between blues, soul and r&B for the past four decades with five GraMMy wins and over 20 acclaimed albums – 15 of which have been on the Billboard charts. his 1986 album, Strong Persuader sold over one million copies. influenced by such artists as ray Charles and sam Cooke, Cray created a sound that rises from american roots and arrives today both fresh and familiar. for his 2017 release, Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm, the Blues hall of fame inductee traveled to Memphis to create a classic soul album with rhythm, which received high praise from fans and critics alike. Cray has performed with artists like eric Clapton, The rolling stones, john lee hooker, BB king and Bonnie raitt, who declared him, “an original. he’s passionate, he’s a bad ass and puts on one of the best shows you’ll ever see.”
california guitar trio & Montreal guitar trio Wed, May 1 @ 7 pM California Guitar Trio & Montreal Guitar Trio features all six virtuoso guitarists from both extraordinary bands. representing four countries (japan, Canada, Belgium, and the us), they fuse over 40 years of combined performing experience into one unique six-by-six string “phenomensemble.” in a pleasantly surprising way, CGT;s steel stringed guitars blend naturally with MG3’s nylon-stringed guitars, as each trios fret boards chase the other’s original compositions and new arrangements of progressive rock, world, jazz, and classical music. inspired in 2010 by an impromptu studio session together in Montreal, CGT and MG3 have proceeded to release a live recording, land showcases at numerous arts presenter conferences, and sustain frequent co-bill touring throughout north america; from the iridium in new york City, to Montreal jazz festival (twice), to napa valley Opera house.

Joshua radin Sun, May 12 @ 6 pM love and the complications surrounding it have long proven to be joshua radin’s songwriting forte. Though he never intended to be a live performer, there was little choice when the first song he ever wrote, ‘Winter,’ was featured on an episode of Scrubs. The resulting fervor around the song soon led to a record deal, and over the last decade, radin has sold hundreds of thousands of records and topped the iTunes charts, earned raves from Rolling Stone to The Guardian, performed on The Tonight Show, Conan, and played ellen deGeneres’ wedding at her personal request. his songs have been featured in more than 150 different films, commercials, and Tv shows. Over the course of his career, radin has shared stages with artists such as sheryl Crow, Tori amos, imogen heap, Gary jules, The script, and many more. in addition to his american following, radin has enjoyed success with his 2008 release, Simple Times in the united kingdom. his song ‘i’d rather Be With you’ reached number 11 on the uk singles Chart and number two on the us Top digital Chart.

Monte Montgomery thurs, June 6 @ 7 pM you can call it prescient or predetermined, but when Terry lickona, undisputed tastemaker and producer of austin City limits, plucked a then relatively unknown guitar talent to tape a segment of the legendary show, one had the sense that this was just the beginning. since that jaw dropping performance, Monte Montgomery has embarked on an almost fantasy like rock and roll roller coaster ride filled with dizzying accomplishments and mind blowing accolades. he has been named one of the “Top 50 all-Time Greatest Guitar Players” by Guitar Player Magazine, and called “guitar-god” by fans and critics alike. The release of his self-titled Cd, “Monte Montgomery” cemented his place as not just some blazingly electrified acoustic guitar playing freak of nature, but also a rare and true triple threat; songwriter, singer and master musician. although he is known for his original songs, his blistering interpretation of jimi hendrix’s “little Wing” is the stuff of legend and his version of “sara smile” led to appear on daryl hall’s, live from daryl’s house.” his buzz on the austin live music scene led to the current fulfillment of his musical destiny; critical acclaim and an ever growing touring circuit in the u.s. and europe helped grow a dedicated fan base outside the “city limits.”
bob Schneider & Mitch Watkins Fri, June 14 @ 7 & 9:30 pM One of austin’s most celebrated musicians, Bob schneider, released Blood and Bones in june 2018, marking his seventh studio album since his 2001 solo debut, Lonelyland. Blood and Bones captures schneider at a unique and distinct place. The album also highlights the chemistry that schneider and his backing band of austin’s very best musicians have developed while relentlessly playing live, most notably at the monthly residency schneider has held at austin’s saxon Pub for the last 19 years. One thing he has excelled at in his career is bringing audiences back. Though he has received little national press or major label support, schneider has managed to become one of the biggest acts in austin, if not in Texas. his fans, who often discover him from being brought to his shows by their friends, are fiercely loyal. Many have attended dozens or even hundreds of shows. Thanks to these fans, schneider has won more austin Music awards than any other musician, including Best songwriter, Best Musician, and Best Male vocals, rounding in at 54 total awards to date. in retrospect, it appears inevitable that Bob schneider would become an artist. he performs relentlessly, creates new music compulsively, writes poetry, and regularly shows his visual art in galleries around austin. With Blood and Bones, schneider further cements his reputation as one of the most versatile, inventive, and engaging songwriters working today.

rippingtons Fri June 21 @ 7 & 9:30 pM “When i started The rippingtons, i never imagined it would last more than the release of one album, let alone thirty years,” says russ freeman, leader and founder of the GraMMy nominated group, The rippingtons. The band celebrated their 30th anniversary with the release of True Stories, their 22nd recording (june 2016). freeman’s approach to composition has been compared to that of a mixed-medium painter. his ability to engage all the senses and employ disparate techniques has helped keep the band at the top of the charts and garner legions of fans worldwide. a testament to The rippington’s Midas touch is the who list of stars who have been featured with the group through the years, including vocalists Patti austin, joe sample, david Benoit, kenny G, jeffrey Osborne, jeff kashiwa, and kirk Whalum. The rippingtons have made a name for themselves defying the odds and redefining themselves every step of the way – and they are not done yet. True Stories is a testament to the unwavering artistry of russ freeman and The rippingtons and confirmation that there are still many more tales to be told. it is this forward momentum that propels the notes on True Stories and keeps the listeners yearning for the next chapter.
boDeans Fri, June 28 @ 7 pM Those who have followed Bodeans’ remarkable 30-year musical career know that their blend of compelling songs and high energy performances have retained an unpretentious rock and roll loyal following like no other. Best known for their catchy single, “Closer To free,” the band’s accessible adult alternative sound has led to many a milestone, including a rolling stone reader’s Poll for Best new american Band in 1987, and support slots with u2, Bob dylan, Paul simon, Tom Petty, George Thorogood, The Pretenders, david Bowie and numerous others. appearances at farm aid, summerfest, aCl festival and others followed. after multiple chart-topping radio singles, and Tv placements, Bodeans have defined a generation that embraced songs like “Good Things,” “you don’t Get Much,” “idaho,” “if it Makes you,” “stay,” and “all The World.” They have released 12 studio albums with ten records that hit the Billboard Top 200 Chart, and numerous singles on the Mainstream rock, Top 40 and Triple a radio charts. Bodeans now reside in a small group of bands that have managed to survive the ups and downs of the industry, remaining true to their sound and their style, for 30 years, and show no signs of slowing down.

poco Sat, aug 23 @ 7 & 9:30 pM One of the first and longest-lasting country rock groups, Poco found Platinum success early in their career. it can easily be argued that these pioneers first created the combination of vocal harmonies, country instruments and rock and roll rhythms that became known as country rock. four decades later rusty young who wrote and sang the massive hits “Crazy love” and “heart Of The night” still leads this incredible band – a band whose roots are found in Buffalo springfield and has included such musicians as The eagles Timothy B. schmidt. With the release of their first album Pickin Up The Pieces, the only debut album to ever receive a perfect rating from rolling stone Magazine, Poco was off and running. With 24 original albums and 26 Best Of and anthology collections, Poco is one of the most prolific bands in rock and roll history. in the last decade the band has stayed true to form, releasing Running Horse in 2002, the all-acoustic collection The Wildwood Sessions in 2003, Bareback at Big Sky in 2005 and Keeping The Legend Alive, the critically acclaimed 40th Anniversary Live DVD.
