Present Scenario Aesthetics in Dermatology
Aesthetic dermatology is a new and unique dermatology practice that focuses on treatments to improve personal appearance rather than addressing underlying diseases. The field is growing due to the rising influence of the fashion industry and the desire to achieve a flawless body shape. Aesthetic dermatology includes a group of treatments such as botox application, wrinkle fillers, microdermabrasion, liposuction and enhancements. The advancement in aesthetic procedures and energy-based devices has helped achieve promising results and, therefore, has increased the number of patients seeking these treatments. Aesthetic dermatology is relevant to dermatology because the skin is not only a functional organ but also a medium of visual and tactile communication. The procedures that are currently in high demand are those that minimize lines and wrinkles and smooth the skin of the face, such as neuromodulators, dermal fillers, intense pulsed light, RF microneedling and ablative non-ablative and ablative fractional lasers.
