Undercover parking is available at the resort and an outdoor car-park is located on the corner of Ferny and Norfolk Avenue which is adjacent to Paradise Resort – fees apply for both car-parks and spaces are limited, we recommend prebooking by calling our team on 1800 074 111. Parking permits can be collected from reception upon arrival and must be clearly displayed on the dashboard at all times. Failure to display a valid permit will result in your car being towed at your own expense.

DUSTY’S JUNGLE GYM Our multi-level indoor climbing frame is complete with slides and mazes. It is located in reception and suitable for children 2-12 years. Children must wear socks and have parental supervision.

DUSTY’S ROCK CLIMBING Our 9-metre climbing wall is located in Dusty’s Adventureland and suitable for all ages from 7-100. Dates and times are weather permitting and subject to change. Please check the weekly ‘What’s On’ program issued upon check-in. Refer to page 25 for more information.

ELECTRICITY / ADAPTORS Guest rooms are equipped to take 240 volt appliances. Adaptors are available from reception, a deposit will apply. Our Superior Rooms are also equipped with HDMI and USB ports to suit most electronic devices. If you have left your cable behind we have a range available for sale in Splashes mini-mart.

GAMES ROOM The games room is an unsupervised area with coin-operated arcade style and challenge machines. Open daily from 8:30am to 8:30pm and located on the lower level next to the Zone 4 Kids Club.

GIANT CHESS BOARD Our giant chess board is 4m x 4m with pieces standing approx 1m high. It is located just outside of the pool area in Cleo’s Castle on Level 1 and available for all guests to enjoy between 9am-6pm daily. Look for the Knight in shining armour.

Check the fire escape plan on the back of your door, remembering the way out to exits. If you discover a fire in your room, immediately report it to the Guest Hotline. Only try to put the fire out if you’re sure you can handle it. If you’re in doubt, leave your room and close the door to keep smoke and flames out of the corridor. In the event of an evacuation, follow instructions given out over the PA system. If the intensity of the fire prevents normal exit from your room – here’s what to do.

DON’T PANIC! Grab your room key and head for the door. If there is smoke in the room, crawl to the door. Stay low as smoke and toxic gases rise. Touch door for heat before opening. If the door isn’t hot, open it slowly and look out for fire in the corridor. Be prepared to close the door quickly if necessary.

CHECK THE CORRIDOR! If everything is clear, close the door behind you and walk to the nearest exit. If there is smoke in the corridor, crawl to the nearest exit. If the nearest exit or stairway is blocked use an alternative exit.

NEVER USE THE ELEVATOR! The call button may take you to a floor with smoke or flames.

Rooms are serviced Monday to Saturday. Our ‘Sunday Sleep In’ initiative allows you to sleep in with no disruption. Located on the lobby level, this boutique offers a great range of swimwear, pool accessories for kids, casual resort wear, souvenirs and your favourite ‘Fancy Dress Friday’ outfits.

ROOM CHARGE To set up room charge you will have been asked for your credit card details upon arrival. For peace of mind and customer security should your account reach $500 we will send you a courtesy letter. Children under the age of 15 are unable to charge back to the room.

SECURITY / SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX For your own security, please ensure you lock and bolt all security screens and doors on departure from your room, as we do not accept responsibility for stolen items. We strongly urge you to place any cash, jewellery, laptop, computers or other valuables in the complimentary safety deposit boxes at reception.

Smoking is not permitted in any of our rooms and government regulations prevent smoking in all public areas other than the designated smoking area located near the front entrance of the resort. Please note children are not permitted in the smoking area. Smoking in rooms will incur a $200 deodorising charge.

SWIMMMING POOLS Our Lagoon Pool and Spa are open daily from 7am-9pm. Wristbands supplied on checkin must be worn at all times in the pool area. To ensure a fun and safe environment for all, please do not run, take glass in to the pool area, or dive in to the pools. CHILDREN MUST HAVE PARENTAL SUPERVISION, as the resort does not have a pool lifeguard. (Refer to page 10 for more information).

MESSAGES - Your telephone light will indicate there is a message waiting for you. To retrieve messages, pick up the handset and press the message button. WAKE-UP CALLS - Please dial 9 to arrange.

TOURS/THEME PARKS/ACTIVITIES There is a booking kiosk and brochures located in reception showcasing a range of activities available on the Gold Coast. The staff in the resort shop can also assist with bookings – a booking fee will apply. You can also view the current resort activities in your weekly ‘What’s On’ program issued upon check-in or on the TV Screens located around the resort.

VISITOR POLICY Our facilities, excluding the ice-skating rink and our food and beverage outlets, are for the exclusive use of Paradise Resort in-house guests only. Visitors are not allowed in these areas and all guests of Paradise Resort will be issued with a guest identification wristband on arrival. The wristband is a requirement of entry to the waterpark, kids club and resort activities.

ZONE 4 ADULTS We offer an exclusive Adult only outdoor Spa area, open daily from 9:00am-7:00pm. It features a large heated spa and lounge chairs offering parents a place to unwind and soak up the sunshine ‘child free’. The Zone 4 Adults stage and dining area is also a place for parents to come together and enjoy our daily entertainment program with a range of activities on our program just for mums and dads. If parents are using the Zone 4 Adults we recommend that children are booked in to the Kids Club or otherwise supervised by a responsible adult.

ZONE 4 KIDS CLUB Our Zone 4 Kids Club is open daily with many packages including one complimentary session per child (0-12years) per day.(Refer to page 16 for more information).

ZONE 4 KIDS WATERPARK Our Zone 4 Kids Waterpark is open daily from 9:00am. These times vary throughout the year depending on natural light. To ensure safety of all guests, the Waterpark may close due to wind, rain or extreme weather. (Refer to page 14 for more information).

Paradise Resort is well underway with its latest redevelopment plans transforming this popular resort into a purpose-built, family friendly, apartment complex consisting of four individual towers, featuring spacious self-contained units, a myriad of entertainment, activity and interactive facilities providing guests with much more amazing holiday experiences. Dubbed ‘The Ruby Collection’, this transformation will showcase the culture of the new Surfers Paradise – urbane and innovative whilst maintaining the focus of a familyfriendly and relaxed destination. The new development will retain many of the family friendly features it’s become renowned for, whilst delivering a brand new product that resort guests have been requesting for many years.

For us to meet the growing needs of our guests we believe that it’s now time to grow with them,” says General Manager of Paradise Resort and CEO of The Ruby Collection, David Brook. “Across all four towers we will create a place that retains the fun for our younger guests with the addition of many more opportunities for the adults to get away and relax in stylish surrounds with quality food and beverage offerings. While it will still include its celebrated family friendly areas, Ruby will also offer world class entertainment, boutique bars and quality retail stores - somewhere the entire modern family can enjoy regardless of age or stage in life.” For more than three decades, Paradise Resort has become a family favourite, attracting visitors far and wide, thanks to its child-friendly facilities, onsite activities, and unique, friendly atmosphere. Features such as the famous on-site water park allowing parents to enjoy lunch and a drink while their children play, the ever-popular kids club, movie nights, resort mascots and magic shows, will all remain as the new venue takes shape, but on a much larger scale. “Our focus in stage one will be on delivering a quality family friendly

holiday experience with apartment style accommodation, which has long featured as a strong request in our current guest feedback,” says Mr Brook. “Families want more space, cooking facilities and an area such as the lounge room to sit and relax in when the kids have gone to sleep - our current hotel rooms are unable to provide this. Whilst not all the same

facilities enjoyed at Paradise Resort will feature in stage one, we want our guests to grow with us and be excited about what’s still to come in stages two to four.” The redevelopment comes with the purchase of the resort by property developer William O’Dwyer, founder of Ralan Group.

delivering a quality family friendly experience Mr O’Dwyer first came to the Gold Coast as a backpacker from Ireland with his then girlfriend (now wife) in the late 80’s, where he spent a few months working in the kitchen at Jupiter’s Casino, and fell in love with the city. Having been involved in the marketing and development of residential real estate since 1993, Mr O’Dwyer launched Ralan Group in 1998, naming the business after his first two daughters, Rachel and Lauren. The company has since successfully delivered 38 separate projects across NSW. But William had a dream to develop something special right here on the Gold Coast, a place where busy families could come together and enjoy all the comforts of home, relax and unwind while creating precious memories in the heart of the Gold Coast - Paradise Resort offered the perfect location to make it happen. He quickly snapped up the opportunity, naming the future project after his third and youngest daughter, Ruby. “The Ruby Collection is a game changer,” says Mr O’Dwyer. “It will headline the transition of Surfers Paradise into a world class destination and elevate the level of amenities

available to residents and visitors.” The Ruby Collection is set to change the Gold Coast skyline forever, reaching new levels in terms of stylish family accommodation and entertainment. Mr O’Dwyer says the lifestyle and entertainment facilities to be delivered as part of stages two and three will be a significant improvement on what is currently available at the existing resort. “I have spoken with the staff at Paradise Resort regarding the plans for Ruby and they agree that the new shopping, dining and entertainment precincts included in the project are a much-needed replacement for the ageing facilities at the resort,” he says. Stage one is on track to open at the end of 2018 paving the way for work to commence on stages two, three and four all due for completion by 2021. By the time the project is complete, The Ruby Collection will encompass four towers ranging from 30 to 60 floors and amass 1600 architecturally stunning 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments with over 2990 rooms. “Our vision is to create a quality family friendly holiday experience that provides entertainment, activities and facilities synonymous with the expectations of the Gold Coast but will also bring the extended family together so that everyone, no matter what age, family size or stage in life, Ruby will provide a place to escape the realities of every day and enjoy family time”.

It is honestly endless offerings for kids at Paradise Resort! From toddlers to teenagers, there really is something for kids of all ages. As Annabelle is two we got so much use out of the waterparks and huge jungle playground, that in the five days we hardly got to do much else because she enjoyed them so much!

It’s also nice knowing that as a kid friendly resort, no one bats an eyelid to your child throwing a tantrum for taking them out of the pool, because most likely the other kids are doing it as well. It’s nice to get a reassuring smile from another parent than be made to feel your ruining someone’s holiday with your screaming child!

Located on the 2nd floor above the Bistro, Planet Chill is an all-weather attraction which lends itself to family fun, year round, whatever the weather. Planet Chill is suitable for all kids big and small (3yrs+) and to make it a little easier for beginners to stay on their feet we have fibre glass penguins to help make your ‘icecapades’ more bump-free. The ice-rink is cold so we recommend bringing a jumper and long pants. Socks are also required and must be worn with the skates. Our smallest skates are a Junior size 12. For sizes smaller we do have a special strap on skate that has 2 blades and are great for balance. Closed in shoes must be worn with the strap on skates otherwise entry on to the ice will not be permitted.
