With so many Californians being priced out of the housing market in urban centers like the Bay Area, Sacramento, and southern California, the Ridge provides a real opportunity to pursue the American dream and become homeowners. Residents on the Ridge get more home for their dollars, enjoy natural beauty, arts of all variety, all essential amenities and a friendly community. Our small towns are just minutes away from Chico and Oroville, providing larger city attractions.
The Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce has launched a new multi-phase initiative to attract residents and businesses to the area, beginning with the launch of a new website, WelcomeToTheRidge.com
A s residents of Paradise and Magalia, we’ve witnessed the remarkable transformation of our community over the past five years. From the devastating Camp Fire that captured the world’s attention to today, where our neighborhoods are becoming known for something entirely different.
In the aftermath of tragedy, Paradise has emerged as the fastest-growing community in California over the last two years. People from all corners of the state
are drawn to our area for its breathtaking natural beauty, affordable housing options, spacious lots, and the welcoming ambiance of small-town living. What was once a retirement haven is now attracting a diverse array of residents, including families and remote workers, as highlighted in a 2023 survey.
As proud residents of the Ridge, we are thrilled to see our community flourishing once again, offering new opportunities and a vibrant lifestyle for those who choose to call it home.
“The resident growth study revealed that the area’s population has changed to include more families, young couples and retirees looking to own a home in a friendly community” says Monica Nolan, Executive Director, Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce. “We want to continue to welcome new residents into our community and make it easier for them to find information on how wonderful life on the Ridge can be.”
The new website’s goal is to make it as easy as possible for anyone to find the information they need when considering relocating to, or visiting, the Ridge. Information includes all the progress made

Representing the Ridge at Sacramento’s Northern California Home and Landscape Expo
By Monica Nolan Executive Director, Paradise Ridge Chamber of CommerceSince 2019, partnering organizations have staged events to connect rebuilders with construction and community resources. Recent marketing studies commissioned by the Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce have revealed that the majority of our newcomers are from outside the area rather than previous residents. In response, we have adapted our marketing strategy to incorpo -
rate a “take it on the road” approach.
During the Annual Northern California Home and Landscape Expo at CalExpo in Sacramento in February, eleven enthusiastic volunteers manned a booth to showcase opportunities on the Ridge to thousands of potential new residents. Over three days, we engaged in insightful conversations, forged new connections, and reshaped perceptions. Want to be a part of selling the Ridge? s a member of the Paradise Town Council and Mayor of Paradise, I want to pass on our thanks to our wonderful partners at the Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce. These Business Professionals have
worked tirelessly to keep our local businesses informed of all the initiatives that are shaping the commercial landscape of Paradise. Paradise has been recognized as the fastest growing town in California two years in a row. This is due, in no small part, to the ceaseless efforts of our Chamber. Their efforts to attract visitors, new residents, and new businesses have been instrumental in the fact that we are approaching a population of 10,000 residents with new business ribbon cuttings happening on a regular basis.
In a little over five years since the Camp Fire, we have had 3,111 applications to rebuild single family homes. At the same time, we have had 808 applications to build multi-family units. At any given time, we have about 500 homes under construction. Our Town
Paradise Project Updates
Early Warning Sirens (EWS)
As the top Tier 1 priority requested by town residents, the Early Warning Sirens continue to be tested monthly. Currently, only one tower on Rocky Lane awaits construction of its new foundation and out of the 21 towers, 10 have been connected successfully to alternating current (AC) power. The estimated completion of the EWS system is spring of this year.
Traffic Cameras
Yes we need more explanation right here. All eight traffic cameras have been installed and will soon be operational. These traffic cameras will enhance traffic monitoring capabilities during an evacuation.
15% of Paradise Paving Plan completed

structure repairs. Moving forward this year, the Town plans on repaving 20 to 30 miles of public roads. All public roads will be repaved by 2026. Patience is appreciated as the roadwork continues throughout the community for the next two years.
Sewer Project
In 2020, the Town contracted with HDR, an engineering consulting firm, to prepare an updated assessment of sewer project options; two years later, the Town Council approved and certified a Programmatic Environmental Impact Report.
Between October and December 2023, the Town requested proposals from design and construction teams that are qualified to deliver the project. Town staff evaluated 7 proposals and selected Mountain Cascade Inc and Carollo Engineers. The proposed contract and contractor selection will be brought to Council at the February 13th Town Council meeting. Construction is projected to begin in 2026.
one of Paradise’s finest in need
The Paradise Police Association (PPA) seeks support for K9 Sergeant Robert Pickering, a valued member of the Paradise Police Department since 1999. Recently, Sgt. Pickering has faced severe medical challenges, requiring hospitalization and surgeries. Currently, he remains hospitalized far from home, with limited mobility and uncertain discharge prospects.
His extended hospital stay necessitates significant expenses for medical, travel, and lodging, impacting his entire family, including his wife, adult children, and newborn grandson, who are providing care and support.
The PPA aims to raise funds directly
for the Pickering family to alleviate these burdensome costs. Donations will aid in covering medical bills and associated expenses during Sgt. Pickering’s prolonged hospitalization.
Please consider contributing to the fundraising efforts via the link below:

Paradise Police Department mourns the loss of its first K9 Officer, Cash (2011-2021)
Cash, the first K9 Officer of the Paradise Police Department (PPD), peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October 6, 2023, at home with his partner, Sergeant John Wilkey. Born in the Netherlands on April 21, 2010, Cash embarked on his esteemed career with the PPD in 2011, forging an unbreakable bond with Sergeant Wilkey. Following his retirement from active service in 2021, Cash remained a cherished member of Sergeant Wilkey’s family until his passing.
Throughout his decade of service, Cash risked his life countless times to safeguard the residents of Paradise. A consummate professional, Cash’s remarkable abilities aided in numerous drug busts, missing person search-
currently boasts more than 350 operational businesses, with numerous others either in the initial planning stages or on the brink of submitting their proposals to the Town. This continual influx of businesses underscores the growing confidence in the bright future of our remarkable community.
Our Town Staff is fully committed to delivering on our Long-Term Recovery Plan. To date, $500 million in funding has been secured to implement recovery efforts. Of the original 39 recovery projects, eight have been completed and 25 are currently in progress. Five projects were determined to be no longer of priority and were retired, while 13 new projects were introduced.
We are fully funded to repave all public roads in Paradise by 2026. Thirty miles are scheduled to be paved this year. The
paving effort is coordinated to follow the undergrounding efforts by PG&E, AT&T and Comcast, as well as the replacement of service laterals by Paradise Irrigation District to all lots in Paradise.
Our Sewer Project includes a community sewer system for the primarily commercial areas in Town (Skyway, Pearson, Clark). A Town-owned pipe will connect directly to the City of Chico Water Quality Control Plant. The Environmental Impact Report (EIR) has been completed and certified. An agreement with the City of Chico has been signed. The design phase is fully funded and has begun. A contract for the Progressive Design Build contractor is expected to be approved in March.
This is a very exciting time for all of us to be involved in the recovery efforts for our Town. The future of Paradise is extremely bright.

PPD Dispatch increases 911 call coverage
By Jacquelyn Blancett Administrative Assistant, Paradise Police Dept.In January 2024 the Paradise Police Department (PPD) Dispatch reached another milestone and now is dispatching and answering calls in-house, seven days a week, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Calls received outside of those hours will continue to be routed to the Butte County Sheriff’s Dispatch team.
The first 911 calls were routed to inhouse PPD dispatchers in July 2023. As additional Staff is hired and trained, the Paradise Police Department will continue to add more shifts. The expectation is to be fully staffed 24/7 by June 2024.
According to Lieutenant all current dispatchers have a history with Paradise, having either worked or resided here during the Camp Fire. This shared experience provides them with a strong familiarity and connection to the residents, as they have endured similar challenges while living on the Ridge.
We extend a heartfelt appreciation to Paradise Police Chief Eric Reinbold,

Evacuation signs installed around town
By Jacquelyn BlancettAdministrative Assistant, Town of Paradise
Evacuation Zone Signs are set to be strategically placed throughout the town. The goal of these signs is to help people in identifying the zone they’re in at any given moment. Much like Tsunami Hazard Area signs along the coast, these markers will notify drivers as they enter and exit hazardous areas. The Evacuation Zone Signs will inform individuals about the specific zones they are entering or departing from.
The installation of the Evacuation Zone Signs is expected to begin in Spring 2024, with the overall process expected to take a few weeks. This initiative will enhance community preparedness and facilitate a swift and organized response in the event of emergencies.

State officials visit Ridge to witness Camp Fire recovery progress
By David Little Executive Vice President, Communications, North Valley Community FoundationFive years along in Camp Fire recovery, much has been accomplished – but so much more remains to be done.
Local agencies and organizations involved in the recovery used the five-year anniversary of the fire to drive that point home. In November, several local officials visited the state Capitol to lobby legislators and department officials.
That was part one. But the locals knew part two – a visit here – would be most effective.
So on January 11, a chartered bus (funded by a North Valley Community Foundation grant) brought a group of legislators and state government staff to Paradise to tour the Camp Fire footprint.
The trip was organized by town and county officials, with the significant help of Assemblyman James Gallagher, a fixture in our area since the fire. He is one of the few legislators who has ever been to Paradise and knew the value of getting others here.
“Everyone has seen pictures of the devastation from the Camp Fire, but no photo can truly capture the scale of the destruction, the amazing progress of the recovery and how much work is left to do,” said Gallagher. “That’s why it was so important to bring this bipartisan group of lawmakers to see the area in person.
“Hearing about the challenges Butte
County faced and how the community is working to overcome them won’t just aid the Camp Fire recovery – it will also help with the effort to prevent and respond to other disasters throughout the state. We appreciate the local officials, community leaders and residents who took the time to educate our group about infrastructure, housing, insurance and forest management needs, which will help us to address these key issues in the future,” Gallagher said.
During the tour, legislators saw and learned the value of parks as a fire buffer, how to build fire-resistant housing, the imperative of escape routes, the work of firesafe councils, impediments to building housing and much more
Five years on, Paradise residents are ready to focus on the future and build a safe, vibrant community. They’ll need help from the state to do that, particularly with things like a sewer system, affordable home insurance, affordable housing and other infrastructure improvements.
“I hope they can see for themselves what the landscape is like and try to recognize what could be,” said Paradise Recreation and Park District Director Dan Efseaff. “There’s promise here, more than just what was here before or what’s here now.”

GRAZING,
from page A-1
Enjoy a free, fun-filled day with activities for the whole family. Experience live music, vendors, food trucks, and of course, goat activities like goat yoga, demonstrations, a petting zoo, story time with baby goats, and more!
Why goats? Goats can work year-round to protect our communities from wildfires by munching down on flammable vegetation. These agile browsers can eat vegetation in hard to access areas, such as canyons and slopes, and reach fuels up to six feet, reducing ladder fuels in our forests. Grazing is an important piece of the BCFSC’s mission to build healthy and fire-resilient landscapes across Butte County.
May 4th is also Wildfire Community Preparedness Day, a national campaign to raise awareness and reduce wildfire risks. Our partners in wildfire safety, including CAL FIRE/Butte County, the US Forest Service, and Paradise Ridge Fire Safe Council will be there!
Funds raised through the Paradise Grazing Festival will go directly towards local grazing efforts and community wildfire education. There has never been an easier or more fun way to support our work. Visit your favorite grazers and “Get Your Graze On!” at the 3rd A nnual Paradise Grazing Festival! Visit Buttefiresafe.net/events for more details and follow the Butte County Fire Safe Council on Facebook for regular event updates. See you there!

Three Ridge Community Gardens happening spring 2024!
By Pamm Larry Initial Instigator and Chief Rabble Rouser Butte County Local Food NetworkThe Butte County Local Food Network (BCLFN) is excited to work with three distinct Community Gardens for the Ridge. We encourage you to join us, as we plot and plan new, beautiful growing spaces that will provide food for Magalia and Paradise.
Magalia Community Park Garden
First, we’d like to invite seasoned and newbie gardeners to join in the creation of a wonderful space on the grounds of the Magalia Community Park. A group has been meeting since last Fall. The current focus is on irrigation, building a fence and starting to build healthy soil, while dreaming up the design and how the community will work together. Check the Magalia Community Park’s Facebook page for the ongoing meeting schedules or contact the BCLFN (info below) for more info.
Feather River Hospital site for a healing food garden
Next- The garden at the Feather River Hospital site kept percolating in 2023, then got some support from the North Valley Community Foundation’s LEAD program for a relaunch of a healing food garden. The first meeting in January was a resounding success with lots of great minds and gardeners present. This one is moving forward with great community engagement. Watch for a big community project on Love Paradise Day, April 19.
The Bumblebee Garden and Free Food Stand
At last, the Bumblebee Garden at 253 Burden Terrace is up and thriving! Featuring a vibrant mural with additional art on the horizon, plus a Free Food Stand, it’s a charming demonstration garden ideal for discussions and intimate gatherings. Nestled in a private yard, it serves as an inspiring model for what’s possible in YOUR own space, while doubling as a fun community hub open to all on select days. Keep an eye out for the upcoming Community Composting Center, where you can drop off kitchen scraps to be transformed into nourishing soil for the garden, fostering a cycle of growth and sustenance for everyone.

Looking for community involvement to grow 1,000 acres of food
All gardens are part of BCLFN’s 1,000 Acres More project which invites our community to come together with personal, community and school gardens to grow 1,000 more acres of food that feeds locals. Visit www.bclocalfood.org for more info and check out the Events Calendars for dates and times of meetings and events at each of these and other community gardens around the county.

Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions…Oh My!!
By Aubrey Pruis, CEO, Paradise Association of RealtorsOnce upon a time, when Paradise and Magalia were built out, many neighborhoods were under the guidance and governance of established Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions (CC&Rs) in Paradise and a Property Owners Association (POA) in Magalia. Both were formed in a similar fashion to that of a Homeowners Association (HOA) for a master planned subdivision. So, before you buy that lot to build your new dream home, determine if it is governed by CC&Rs for lots in Paradise, and the POA for lots in Magalia, and be sure you understand how the CC&Rs and POA work.
What is a CC&R?
That is an ever pressing and highly important topic of discussion today. Many neighborhoods in Paradise have established CC&Rs, while Magalia operates under the POA. These agreements are legally binding contracts enforced by property owners, even if homes are not presently built on the lot. CC&Rs, like the provisions of an HOA, are rules pertaining to the type of dwelling that can be built on any given lot under the governance of the CC&Rs. These regulations are implemented to provide guidelines on construction, residence type, aesthetics, and sometimes even dictate color palettes, landscaping, and fencing materials permissible on the property.
For instance, in neighborhoods governed by specific CC&Rs, if a 3-bedroom,

2-bathroom,
built” home previously existed, the regulations likely mandate a “likefor-like” replacement. This means that the original stick-built home must be replaced with a similar structure, maintaining the same
New to The Ridge? Here’s what you need to know about your septic system:
Your septic system isn’t a sewer, and replacing the septic tank or leach fields can be costly. But the good news is you can live happily with your septic system for, many years.
Efficient water use is key:
• A ll water that goes down your pipes ends up in your septic system. Conserving water improves its operation and reduces the risk of malfunctions.
• The average single-family home can use up to 70 gallons of water per person per day. Even a small leak can waste up to 200 gallons per day.
• The EPA’s WaterSense program at epa.gov/watersense offers tips for saving water and recommends water-efficient products.
Here are some ways to conserve water:
• High-efficiency toilets account for 25-30% of household water use, older homes may have toilets with 3.5- 5-gallon reservoirs, newer, highefficiency toilets use 1.6 gallons or less per flush.
• Faucet aerators and high-efficiency showerheads and shower flow restrictors reduce water use and the volume of water.
Washing Machines:
• Avoid wasting water and energy by properly using your washing machine:
• Opt for full loads of laundry instead of small ones on the large-load cycle.
• Running only full loads reduces water waste.
• Spread out your laundry throughout the week instead of doing it all in one day.
• Doing laundry in one day might seem convenient, but it can harm your septic system by not giving it enough time to treat waste, potentially leading to a flooded leach field.
• L ook for washers with the ENERGY
STAR label, as they use 35% less energy and 50% less water.
Properly Dispose of Waste whether you flush it, grind it in the garbage disposal, or pour it down the sink, shower, or bath, everything down the drain ends up in your septic system and affects how it works.
Your septic system is not a trash can. Do not to flush anything besides human waste and “Septic Safe” toilet paper (available at Costco).
Never flush:
• Cooking grease or oil, wipe out dishes/pans before washing
• Diapers, non-flushable wipes, baby or wet wipes
• Feminine hygiene products, condoms, dental floss
• Cat litter, cigarette butts
• Paper towels, coffee grounds, pharmaceuticals
• Household chemicals, gasoline, oil, pesticides, antifreeze
• Paint or paint thinners
Think at the sink! A septic system contains living organisms to digest and treat household waste. Pouring toxins or fats down your drain can kill these organisms and harm your system.
• Avoid chemical drain openers for clogged drains. Use boiling water or drain snake.
• Never pour cooking oil or grease down the drain- it kills the leach field!
• Never pour oil-based paints, solvents, or large volumes of toxic cleaners down the drain. Minimize latex paint waste.
• Eliminate or limit the use of a garbage disposal. This w ill significantly reduce the amount of fats, grease, and solids that enter your septic tank and could clog the leach field.
CC&Rs were established and in place by any given neighborhood. Many, but not all of the CC&R neighborhoods in Paradise are identified by visible posted signage in the neighborhood that CC&Rs are in effect, with contact information for the CC&R president or official contact person.
If the Paradise neighborhood you are buying a lot in does not have this information, the Building Resiliency Center (BRC) in Paradise may have this information for Paradise, and the POA for Magalia. It is also very important to review the CC&Rs in place in your new neighborhood in the closing documents which should be included at the time of escrow closing with your title and escrow company. This is also an opportune time to ask any questions that you may have about CC&Rs with your Realtor® and the title and escrow professionals who should have the most information about them.
CC&Rs seem cumbersome and restrictive…why have them?
Typically, CC&Rs, akin to HOAs, aim to safeguard property values by ensuring a tidy, visually appealing neighborhood where homes maintain consistency with surrounding properties. These regulations serve to uphold resale value and prevent the construction of “non-conforming” structures, thereby protecting homeowners from potential devaluation caused by neighborhood discrepancies. For property owners, having CC&Rs in place can provide a reassuring layer of legal enforcement, bolstering confidence in the integrity and value of their investments.

Following its efforts in 2023, which included a total donation of $200,000 to support recovery and rebuilding in the community, with proceeds benefitting the Boys and Girls Club of the North Valley, Magalia Community Park, Community Action Agency, Paradise Arts, Theater and Culture Hub (PATCH), Butte County Local Food Network, Paradise Stronger , Paradise Little League, and the Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce, Feather River Health Foundation has continued its efforts by pledging more nearly $50,000 of support in the community to begin 2024.
This support will benefit the Butte County Local Food Network, Boys and Girls Club of the North Valley, Paradise Arts, Theater and Cultural Hub among other local organizations. Foundation efforts will also assist in the purchase of a specialized car seat to allow end-of-life patients to recline during transport.

New to Town? Wondering about PID? Here’s the lowdown on Paradise Irrigation District, our water source
By Tonya Dale Cedar Creek Publishing“Our water. Our future” That’s what Paradise Irrigation District proudly shares on its logo—and there’s a definite reason for every word in that slogan.
The word “our” is repeated twice because PID belongs to all of us in this community. PID is a special district, governed by five Paradise residents who voluntarily serve on the board of directors to oversee the agency’s direction. Contact information for each of the board members (including the newest, Patricia Guillory, in Division Four) is on the district’s website and each director welcomes input from their neighbors.
PID board members meet monthly to make decisions which affect all of us in Paradise—from plans for future water projects to setting policies for customer service and water rates. Find out more about the board at PIDWater.com/board.
PID’s water source is the watershed around Paradise Lake and Magalia Reservoir. Recreation around Paradise Lake, including fishing, hiking, kayaking and biking, is managed by Paradise Recreation and Park District. The “raw” water is treated to meet and exceed state and federal standards at PID’s

Thinking about spring planting, landscaping? Visit PID’s Demonstration Garden, 6344 Clark Rd (north of the PID Office) for ideas tailored to our community. See drought-tolerant, hummingbird and butterfly friendly plantings, native plants, and several surface suggestions for walkways. Open daily dawn until dusk.
Water Treatment Plant, just below the Magalia Dam. Water is distributed to the community via an extensive network of over 150 miles of pipelines.
Without water, our community wouldn’t have what it needs—water for all the new construction, for Paradise residents (both “new” and “old”), water for businesses and water for our future.
PID is “our” water district and PID is excited to be a vital part of the future or our growing community
PID continues to grow with the community
Numbers are up all over Paradise—and that includes water storage numbers and more pipeline to get that water to PID customers. With recent construction, PID now has two above-ground water tank reservoirs, each with 1.5 million gallons of capacity. This project increases water storage for fire emergencies and improves water distribution for PID customers.

Additionally, an extra 6,000 feet of pipeline is now complete in the upper portion of PID’s service area. The 16-inch pipeline in Zone A provides a redundant water supply to ensure water can still be supplied if anything happens to the current transmission line.

$2.4 million Adventist Health Clinic renovations
Adventist Health is also pleased to share the latest developments in the $2.4 million renovation project at the Feather River Health Center on Skyway in Paradise. This transformative initiative aims to enhance healthcare services on the Ridge, with the renovated spaces expected to welcome patients in February 2024.
Highlights of the renovation project include a dedicated Rapid Care Clinic, as well as a remodeled lower level to increase provider capacity and patient access. It will also allow for Women’s Health clinic services to move back into the Feather River Health Center to support ease of accessing all ancillary services in one convenient location.
As part of the remodel, Women’s Imaging services, including mammography and bone density tests, will return to the Ridge, expected to open in early Spring 2024.
“By bringing back essential services like mammography and bone density tests, we aim to empower and prioritize the health of the incredible women in our community,” said Amber Thompson, Director of Imaging Services. “Our goal is to provide accessible and comprehensive care, fostering a sense of security and confidence in every woman’s healthcare journey.”

Having been born in Paradise, I have a deep love for the Community. You might say my blood runs “Paradise-dirt” red. As the last of 13 siblings, I was privileged to attend Paradise schools, and raised my son here.
I’ve been in the local Septic & Wastewater business since 1993 and at the helm of Hydrotec since 2003.
Like many of you, Hydrotec’s landscape changed with the Camp Fire in 2018. We have been blessed to weather the storm, so we can continue our honest and reliable service for our clients, and the ridge.

Madd Natters Donuts II opens second shop in upper Paradise
Allison and Adam Evans, proprietors of Madd Natters Donuts, are thrilled to announce the opening of their second shop, located at 9215 on the Skyway, Ste 2. In January 2024, they achieved their dream of launching a second establishment nestled between Paradise and Magalia, catering to the upper Ridge communities. This expansion signifies a pivotal milestone in their journey to grow with the Ridge, fostering community growth and employment opportunities for local residents.
In 2020, after spending years in other professions, the Evans moved from Oregon to Paradise. They had found a place to call home and opened a business providing a highly demanded commodity, donuts! The first Madd Natters Donuts at 5913 Clark Road, was opened in May 2022, naming it after their two daughters, Madison, and Natalee.
“Paradise is a place we want to raise our children and teach them what
community should mean in current times. We love the people and community here,” say the owners.
Madd Natters, a cherished familyowned enterprise, is fueled by the Evans’ passion for crafting mouthwatering donuts. Their greatest delight stems from seeing customers walk in and out with smiles adorning their faces. Their motto, “If you don’t have a smile on your face, you’re in the wrong place,” encapsulates their commitment to spreading joy with every treat. They find immense satisfaction in brightening customers’ days with simple gestures of kindness.

“Calling for Kid-Friendly Fun!” For years, residents on the Ridge have yearned for a place catering to kids’ entertainment and party needs. Responding to this community demand, business partners and longtime Ridge residents Jason Hastain and Amanda Clark took action, embarking on the journey to create Paradise Playdium.
Over 18 months, Hastain and Clark meticulously planned, conducted surveys and curated a selection of games and attractions to enrich the Ridge community experience and stimulate the local economy. Securing an ideal location at Paradise Shopping Center, 6848 Skyway, Suite H, they transformed their vision into reality.
On February 10, 2024, Paradise Playdium opened its doors. Boasting three party rooms, a myriad of video games (including beloved classics), three axe-throwing lanes, and two virtual reality stations, the venue promises entertainment for all ages. Additionally, a stage hosts live music and karaoke events, with plans for further expansion this spring to include arcade games, bumper cars, and laser tag.

Paradise Senior Center rebuilds as Paradise Community Center
By Jan Keller Paradise Community Center Board MemberPre-fire Paradisians cherished the Senior Center for its central location and welcoming atmosphere. Though lost in the Camp Fire, the spirit of the center lives on. Public input highlighted the community’s desire to rebuild, where residents from Paradise and surrounding areas can gather for various events and activities.
In February the Paradise Recreation and Park District (PRPD) board, with the Paradise Community Center (PCC) board, unveiled plans including conceptual drawings and building layouts to transform the Senior Center into a Paradise Community Center. Recognizing the need for a more inclusive space, the PCC board officially changed
its name to reflect this vision in October 2019.
Collaborating with PRPD, and grant funding from North Valley Community Foundation, the PCC board has contracted North Valley Building Systems Inc. to construct the center at the original Senior Center location, 877 Nunneley Road, Paradise. The anticipated completion date is 2025.

Bucatini Trattoria: new Italian eatery coming to Paradise
Excitement is brewing in Paradise as plans for a new restaurant, Bucatini Trattoria Italian Kitchen, are underway. Bucatini Trattoria will be located at 460 Pearson Road, next to Hudson’s Appliances. The new owners Christie and John Beeman report that they are in the preliminary stages of planning and hope to open late fall/winter of 2024.
With a focus on fresh-made pasta, Neapolitan brick oven pizza, garden-fresh salads, desserts, and a selection wines
and beers. Bucatini will invite residents and visitors alike to savor the flavors of Italy in the heart of Paradise.
Drawing inspiration from cherished memories of times spent in Paradise with family, the team aims to recreate the warmth and camaraderie of those gatherings.
“We can’t wait to share our family recipes with you and your loved ones,” says Christy Beeman. “Bon appétito!”

Party in the Park, weekly summer celebration starts in June
The Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the return of Party in the Park Music & Marketplace, a summertime community celebration in the historic heart of Paradise. With its farmers’ market, food trucks, beer and wine, kids’ zone, talented bands and performers, arts, crafts, local organizations and eclectic products, Party in the Park is a celebration of all that makes us Paradise.
As promotions launch for the 20232 season, sponsors are recognized with extended exposure as supporters of one of the Ridge’s most-loved events. Past events have welcomed record crowds. Your support demonstrates dedication to our beautiful mountain home while associating your brand with community health, culture and family fun. Sponsors express appreciation to their patrons and enhance quality of life on the Ridge by helping to host the party.
Party in the Park is made possible through a partnership with the Town of Paradise.
