Long time Paradise businesses owner Cindy Dawson is resurrecting the iconic Mendon’s Nursery location on Foster road. Dawson’s business, Déjà vu of Paradise, located on Pearson Road was destroyed in the Camp Fire. She feels blessed to be able to resurrect the Mendon’s Nursery location while utilizing her expertise in all things gardening. She obtained her education in Agriculture, Environmental Horticulture, Nursery Technician, Landscape Design and Consulting—at our local Butte-Glenn Community College District in Oroville and Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia. Déjà vu Gardens features fast-growing and hard-to-find specialty trees, landscape plants, shrubs, citrus and fruit trees. In addition to seasonal vegetable starts, look for ornamental flowers, ceramic garden pots, fountains, arbors, garden accessories, yard art, potting soil and amendments, gardens supplies and so much more! The nursery is now taking special

orders and offering discounts to those replanting in Paradise and surrounding areas. Anyone affected by the Camp Fire will receive a 20% discount on all plants and shrubs and 10% off all trees, fountains, arbors, ceramic-glazed pottery and everything else through December 2021. Since 1921, Noble Orchards in Paradise has been the place to go for locally grown fruit. Every fall, fruit has been harvested, and while nothing has changed about harvesting the fruit, it seems everything has changed about daily living. Laurie and Jim Noble never wavered in their decision to rebuild the eleven buildings lost on the thirty-five-acre property in the Camp Fire. The orchards survived and today you can stop by “The Nursery” at Noble Orchards (new this year) and treat yourself to some of the finest, tastiest fruit ever. Okay, to be honest - there are blemishes on peaches and the less-than-perfect ones you can bake or freeze. But the flavor is amazing! And to everyone’s delight apples will be available into November! During this first season the nursery is offering sun loving plants that will thrive in the loss of shade we have experienced post-fire. Also available are starts for vegetable gardens, redwood, cedar and olive trees and hundreds of succulents. The Nursery carries a variety of plants to attract the pollinators— hummingbirds, butterflies and bees— to your garden. In the coming season, expect to see some shade plants.
