Ruth Simmons, BVMS, MRCVS Throughout June and July we will be running a neutering promotion. We are offering a 10% discount off all cat & dog neutering. We recommend neutering dogs and cats at around 6 months of age. Below is a summary of the main reasons why we advise neutering your pet. Dog Castration Limits them straying, causing unwanted litters. As a treatment for unacceptable sexual behaviour eg. mounting and urine marking. To prevent testicular tumours and reduce prostate problems and anal tumours. Bitch Spay No seasons or unwanted pups. Stops false pregnancies. Prevents pyometra (dangerous infection of the womb). Reduces risk of developing malignant mammary cancer in later life, if spayed early, (ideally before 1st season but no later than their 2nd season) Cat castration Helps prevent urine spraying and removes strong tom cat odour. Reduces risk of them straying (which can cause fighting, road traffic accidents, impregnate female cats). Reduces the risk of catching potentially fatal disease: FeLV and FIV (Feline Leukaemia Virus & Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) Cat Spay

Prevents seasons or unwanted kittens. Reduces the risk of catching fatal diseases. Stops pyometra (infection in the womb). This is a short summary of the reasons for neutering your pet. There is a very small risk of an anaesthetic or surgical complication with these procedures. To discuss this further or any other reason not to neuter your pet, please come in to talk to one of our vets or nurses.
