Your Say Byron Shire
The biggest little town in Australia is sure to be inspirational as soon as you drive in to the view of Mt. Chincogan Mullumbimby is an Australian town in Byron Shire in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. It promotes itself as “The Biggest Little Town in Australia”. The town lies at the foot of Mount Chincogan in the Brunswick Valley about 9 kilometres (5.5 miles) by road from the coast. At the 2016 census, Mullumbimby and the surrounding area had a population of 3,596 people. Locals refer to the town as “Mullum”. The name “Mullumbimby”, meaning “small round hill”, was given to the district by Aboriginal people. The name is derived from the Bundjalung-Yugambeh dialect mulubinba (possibly also pertaining to a native fern which grew in the vicinity). Mullumbimby is a centre of alternative or counter culture in the Byron Shire. A day out in Mullum is definitely part of the Byron experience.
A DAY IN MULLUM EAT – UNCLE TOM’S PIES -You will find the iconic Uncle Tom’s Pies at the

There are also mouthwatering apple pies and delicious muffins baked on site, fresh wraps, rolls and salads made daily. The coffee is second to none in the area. PATISSERIE - SCRATCH PATISSERIE
- A desire to bake traditionally using organic and local produce led Greg and Angie to start the patisserie in 2010. Over the years, the business has grown from it’s beginnings providing market shoppers with fresh pastries at the Byron and Mullumbimby Farmers Markets, and wholesale pastries around the Byron Shire, to include a shop in Mullumbimby selling their range of specialty cakes, tarts and pastries. www.scratchpatisserie.com.au @scratchpatisserie 45
