A Day In Mullum

Mullumbimby is an Australian town in Byron Shire in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. It promotes itself as “The Biggest Little Town in Australia”. The town lies at the foot of Mount Chincogan in the Brunswick Valley about 9 kilometres (5.5 miles) by road from the coast. At the 2023 census, Mullumbimby and the surrounding area had a population of 9,483 people. Locals refer to the town as “Mullum”. The name “Mullumbimby”, meaning “small round hill”, was given to the district by Aboriginal people. The name is derived from the Bundjalung-Yugambeh dialect mulubinba (possibly also pertaining to a native fern which grew in the vicinity).

EAT - THE PADDOCK PROJECT- is an organic market garden, coffee van and roadside shop at 64 Argyle Street, the main road into Mullumbimby. The shop, cafe and garden are open to the public from 7am to 3pm, Monday to Saturday. All garden produce is grown using organic and Syntropic farming principals. Syntropic farming reproduces the interdependent and symbiotic relationships of plants so they can grow together in abundance as they do within a rainforest system.
