o there it is! The fist edition of the Paranormal Cravings Reviews E-Magazine. When I started to set up this magazine a couple of months ago it all sounded so easy in my ears. But working out the idea, interviewing the author’s and designing the magazine really proofed different. But it was all worth it. This magazine and the reviews are my own opinion. My out of hand hobby! So if you don’t like it ... to bad! In this edition we mention some of the posts from the site and added some new ones. We have a few standard items that will pop up every month. like the reviews, guest posts but also books we look forward to read . As we speak I am already working on next month’s edition. I hope you give you each month a new one... But first of all, I really hope you will enjoy this one!

Jacqueline Farrell has again written an lovely Urban Fantasy called Sophronia and the Vampire. This novel is about a Forty-nine, English woman, Sophronia that has earned over the years the title crone where I believe she is actually proud off. After the dead of her husband she started touring America and is forced to spend the night in a crappy road Motel on the Californian Coast. There she meets the owner, a juvenile witch who need help. Sophronia can’t do anything else than help her even if this will set her in the

spotlight of people she is desperate outrun. Sophronia and the Vampire is no your average Paranormal book certainly not a romance. But it is an exciting read full of witched and vampires all settled in a great story full with great characters, world building and fast paced action scenes. Like Sophronia and the Vampire is not a typical paranormal romance so is Sophronia not your typical character/witch. For instance she has reached her a certain age being forty-nine. Not that, that is a problem for her because it is not stopping her
to kick some ass and save the people around her. I had a little bit of a problem in the beginning. I don’t know if it was the writing or the design/formatting or the e-copy but I had a lot of trouble finding out who said what and who was speaking. There where also some parts that just lacked the spice of the story, some spelling errors,unnecessary fillers. And without the snarky comments of Sophronia, (what by the way a terrible name is to read so many times) I doubt I would have pulled it though, some where between the beginning and the middle to finish this book. Sophronia has made that up, Jacqueline Farrell has made up a fantastic character. The book really became interesting when a master vampire Hagan cam in to the picture. Hagan is used to immediate obedience and that is just the thing Sophronia is not giving him. Slowly there is a feeling of a connection between Sophronia and Hagan and you can see him grow in to someone more human and less master like. In Sophronia eyes anyway. Although there is not one single kiss, romance, love or sexual contents. I had a little hope for Sophronia and Hagan at the end of the book. So I coudn’t resist when I had a character interview

with Jacqueline Farrell last week to ask her if there is a future between Sophronia and Hagan. Jacqueline Farrell said she thought Sophronia was to old for a romantical thing between Sophronia and Hagan. Thats’s to bad because the only thing this book was missing was a little sexual tension and I would have liked to know how that story would have continued. I don’t know if there will be a second book, but I hope the humor will be back and also that there will be a little bit of extra in it. Because just in this tempo and setting how this book is written I don’t think a lot of readers will be able to hold on a whole series. So I be waiting patiently and hopeful for a second book about Sophronia and Hagan! REVIEW RATING: 3 1/2 stars

It a while ago, october last year again that Rachel Caine released her new book Devil’s Bargain. I somewhere read it was already published in 2007. But don’t know when. (will get back to that later). Devil’s Bargain is the first installment of this fantastic new Urban Fantasy series, Red Letter Days. Although I was looking forward reading it and was planned to do so a lot sooner, I only now had time to actually read this first book of this daring series. Rachel Caine‘s main character Jasmine Callender, also called Jazz is on the in not in the best financial shape. As former homicide detective, she’s lost it all: her former partner’s been convicted of murder, she’s been cashiered out, and she’s drinking away what little self-respect

she’s got left in lousy bars. Just when this new bar she is hanging out is starting to grow on her, a strange man walks in looking for her with a fateful red envelope in his hand, and offers her a deal. A deal she can’t say no to. The “Red Envelop” deal requires her to enter into a partnership with a for her strange FBI agent and investigate cases that arrive in special red envelopes from a mysterious firm..where this strange sexy man is working and later Jazz and her new partner realize they are working for someone with supernatural abilities and the assignment that come with the mysterious

DEVIL’S BARGAIN (RED LETTER DAYS, #1) BY RACHEL CAINE envelop, are even more strange and supernatural than that they initially thought It’s all about the Red envelopes with the thick paper note in it that really more feels like an expensive invitation, but it’s not! And when those letters are commissioned by a convicted serial killer with a paranormal touch, Jazz finds out she is possible to stop people from dying depending upon what the future reveals about their actions. Rachel Caine created an exciting read with a lot of tension and missing info about the main characters backgrounds, enough to keep you hanging and looking forward to some background stories in the future books of The Red Letter Days Series. This story have the right ingredients for a thrilling Urban Fantasy. The paranormal aspects and some good plotting. Although Jazz is a regular Human, I am not sure how she kept herself standing during her up and downs in this thrilling ride. There is also a little romance. Jazz meets James Borden, he
is a lawyer with Gabriel, Pike (a.k.a. the firm). He mentioned he had a girlfriend but that didn’t stop Jazz obviously. Don’t get your hopes up on a big romance thread. There is mentioned a kiss and a sentence, it was great yesterday, sore on all the right spots, more you will not get. But that is why it an urban not a romance But don’t worry. Rachel Caine will keep you entertained all the way, you won’t miss a thing. The Cover The cover is just as the story goes. A large red envelope containing the new missions the girls are send out to solve. There is also a other cover running around with a girl face on it. Maybe this cover was to much fairytale/story telling’isch?? This cover does not represent the fast passed scenes and action Devil’s Bargain delivers. But I like it! Jason’s Salvation will be book 6 of the series Great Wolves of Passion Alaska. I really like this series. Just skip the tention building, action. And go straight to the hot scenes. Not with one shapeshifter, but 6. Sometimes 3 at the Same time… Sometime you Just need a quick read that jumps straight to the good stuff! 4 stars!
REVIEW: IN LIKE A LION BY KARIN SHAH Research scientist Dr. Anjali Mehta lost her beloved family in an earthquake. With her new job she also finds her new research subject, reputed mass murderer Jake Finn. Somehow she doesn’t think it is strange she is accepted for this job with so little work experience. But Jake Finn make it up. He was maddeningly uncooperative before she arrived but getting better to handle when she started working there, he is very sexy and dominating. Anjali is tempted to run away but how can she leave Jake behind. De man that is intriguing and can’t wait to touch!

fter working there for a few days, Anjali finds out there is more to Jake than meets the sexy eye. By accident she finds out he is not human but a shape shifter who can change into a lion or a dragon or combine the strength of both. And with the animal feelings he has for Anjali only makes it harder to handle.

arin Shah has written an thrilling story with the caged Jake. And the addicting tension between Anjali and Jake. In like a Lion contains all the right elements you are looking for in a shifter romance. But the good plot is a nice bonus.

specially like the character Anjali,of course while reading the story you know from the start that Anjali’s employers are behind the whole thing. But that doesn’t make is less fun to read about. Karin Shah has done a great story that is hard to stop. So be aware that when start reading this book your are compelled to read it to the end.

So If your ready… sitting with your feet up on the couch before the fire place with a nice glass of wine and looking for a Hot Shifter book to read, I have one right here! Laurann Dohner has always a soft spot on my book shelf. Especially the New Species series and Cyborg Seduction series but also with her new stand-alone book MINE TO CHASE, she is on top of her game!.

MINE TO CHASE is a fantastic short shifter novella (77 pages) from Laurann Dohner. Laurann has written again a hot and thrilling story. Doesn’t matter who’s the hero or uber alfa is, she always making you drool and falling in love with her hard headed book characters. If you whant to or not! For such a short story she nows just how to put the right amount of tension, setting, world building and hot scenes in to her books without making it to cramped or shallow. And although this is a stand alone, with just the right type of voice, her voice, Laurann
One of the main characters, Jasmine met the guy of her dreams a while back but lost track without the chance to give it a shot. She’s spent a year filled with fantasies and soul-deep yearning for that one man who rejected her. Now a year later she finds her self locked away in kind of a closet in a dark hole. She is kitnapped by a madman who is a rogue vampire that like to make her a midnight snack. Just when she thinks her life is over she is beeing rescued by no less the same hot man that rejected her a year ago! When Chase finds Jasmine in that dark hole kitnapped by that madman he almost looses it. He had to do everything to stay away from her when he met he, now he finds out he could have lost her in the hands of this madman. The hot blooded shifter/ werewolf man has made himself walk away from her ones. But not now…. He is keeping her! Just like each book from Laurann Dohner is wish this Novella was just a little longer. But maybe that is just also attraction. Stopping when it is the best, without loosing the attention of the reader. I recommend it to all erotic shifter readers/fans!

Blood, She Read is the debut book by Sara Hubbard and I must say I really enjoyed it. Sara Hubbard has written an great book with wonderful characters that develop through to the end of the story. Of course at Paranormal Cravings we always have a really softspot for the Paranormal beings, and it is lovely to read it in a YA. Blood, She Read shows you that it has not always have to involve action and hot love scenes to enjoy a good paranormal book.

Blood, She Read is about Petra Maras and the murder of a local teen, Josie. And how Petra is going to help the local police in solving this mystery with her crazy mother and the other school students on the background. Although the paranormal mystery was the main line of the story there was also a little romance going on between Petra and Finn, and a love hate relationship between Petra and het mother. That in my opinion was a little on the heavy side. I think I enjoyed the story more if the relationship between Petra and het mother would have evolved a little more from the start. Of douse this is a YA, so wishing for more romance is not really possible. But maybe leaving out the romance has in this case also it’s attractions and keep the reader wishing for more.Sara Hubbard said that this is a stand-alone but that she is working on a sequel, so maybe we can read later more about Petra and Finn than that we could in Blood, She Read. I really loved reading about Petra and het life on school. She is brave with all the actions like any teen. I had a little trouble around page 40 to continue this book. Somewhere I had the feeling the story stopped and there was not really anything new happening, that and the
negative story line between Petra and het mother that came back to often to really enjoy this part of the book. The mother/daughter relation feels unnatural and written with a strange angle almost forced. I do like it that there was some tension between them but somehow it feels more natural if the relationship between the two would have written sooner to the positive.That said! Overall I found Blood, She Read to be good story with funny and some romantic moments. I would recommend this book for young adults or adults who like fun paranormal mystery books with a small taste of romance. I liked Blood, She Read and will look forward to the next book!

I’ll be your after dinner mint-” Ward’s answer as to why only Qhuinn is on the cover: “I do think it’s going to be important for people to realize the story’s going to be written as it comes (came) to me, and that they’re not getting special treatment either for or against them because of their sexuality- to me, this story has always been about Qhuinn coming around and accepting who he really is and who he really loves- so the title and the cover was always about him in my mind. This is not to dimish Blay or his journey or his role- not at all. And it is not a case of the book focusing solely on Qhuinn and ignoring Blay’s feelings (because he’s going to have some big issues to deal with, too.) I just think Qhuinn’s the one who’s fought against their HEA and is the one who has to travel the most to get there. If that makes any sense?”

WHICH TYPE OF GUY IS FOR YOU? BY ADRIENNE MONSON Valentine’s Day has come and gone. If you’re a fan of paranormal romance books, then this month is probably just like any other. After all, you live for romance at any given time, right? But with this month’s holiday, my thoughts have turned to characters that we all love to love.

Paranormal Cravings If you’ve read the Sookie Stackhouse series, then Eric would probably be the character you have the biggest crush on. Or perhaps Damon, from the Vampire Diaries is your cup of tea. Those types of characters are the ones that I’m personally drawn to. But when I discussed these characters with a friend of mine, she disagreed with my choices. She loves Jacob from the Twilight series, and characters that are like Edward Ferras from Sense and Sensibility. This brings me to the topic of this post: Which type of character do you like the most? I’ve made up a few different types of characters to choose between and am using a character to symbolize each type so it’s easier to see what kind of man I’m talking about. I apologize if you haven’t read or watched the books and shows that I’m referencing. However, this may be a good opportunity to check out these books and movies. They are really good! The bad boy: My personal favorite. The character I’ve chosen to represent this type is Jericho Barrons from the Fever series (by Karen Marie Moning). He is dark, mysterious, and readers don’t know whether he’s a good guy or a bad guy. Barrons is intensely passionate while unreadable and very private. He’s a Pandora’s box that women everywhere want to be able to open and learn of his secrets. The good guy: I hope you’ve read the Mercy Thompson series (by Patricia Briggs) because I’m using Adam’s character as the example for this one. Adam is the alpha of his werewolf pack. He’s a great leader, dutiful, and is always there to help the damsel in distress. His traditional values and beliefs can sometimes interfere with Mercy’s independent, kick-back nature, but they make it work anyway. The funny guy: I’m branching out to an older movie for this one. James, from Sliding Doors. He’s a perfect example of the funny guy. He uses humor to cheer up Helen during a difficult time in her life. He’s a great listener and keeps an upbeat demeanor which inspires everyone around him to be happier. The sophisticated guy: Let’s go with Mark Darcy from Bridget Jones’ Diary. Yes, I do realize that this character is based off of Fitzwilliam Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, but Mark’s character fits the stereotype a little better because he’s not quite as harsh as Jane Austin’s depiction. Mark gives off a sophisticated, upper class feel. Yet he also shows a great deal of sensitivity and empathy towards Bridget. After reading through these descriptions, and putting a face to the type of man represented, which one hits closer to home for you? Does any particular character make you feel more romantic than the other? It’s possible you lean towards more than just one. Perhaps you like them all. I actually like each of the characters I listed, though I already told you which type I like the most. So when you want to curl up with a book or watch a movie to enjoy the courting of a character, think of which man will make your toes curl the most and spend an evening with him.
