Cover Story

Parenting

LEADERSHIP Cheenu G. Srinivasan is a Chartered Accountant by qualification with experience as an entrepreneur and corporate executive. He is a Happiness Coach and a social scientist who studies human psychology and behaviour. He works with individuals, families, companies and groups of people to help them be happy, emotionally, mentally and physically healthy, achieving objectives that matter to them, using neuroscience based techniques.

Let’s begin with a warning! While the title is about parenting, this article is actually about you! If you were looking to getting some tips about how your children could change and do what you want them to do, think again! It’s very difficult to be a good parent or leader without first being a good person. Since the word “good” has multiple connotations, sometimes, it’s not clear if you have been good, or if you need to do more. It’s as much about knowing yourself, as it is about inspiring others – children, or those whom you lead.

Throughout the article, the words parenting and leadership are used interchangeably. Simply because anyone who is a good parent, has the potential to be a good leader and vice-versa. Both have similar characteristics, and a few differences.
