You’re never too old to play! Exercise equipment for senior citizens

Lappset – experts in exercise and play Lappset strives to make people’s living environment an attractive and playful space where people of all ages can enjoy life, play, exercise and learning. We have extended the concept of play and playfulness by creating the 0–100 ideology, meaning that everyone has a right to play. We have developed our playground equipment so that it now also serves to maintain the well-being and physical fitness of senior citizens. Play acts as a source of relaxation, exercise and joy – three important elements of well-being. Our playgrounds for senior citizens have enjoyed great success in Spain and their popularity is growing elsewhere in Europe as well; not just in Finland but also in countries such as the Netherlands and Sweden. Come out and play!

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” George Bernard Shaw Several studies have shown that exercise promotes mental and physical well-being. The need to maintain coordination skills, balance and fitness without the stress and pressure to perform increases as we get older. The more we exercise and challenge ourselves, the longer we remain healthy. Outdoor activity also revitalises different senses. Lappset’s 0–100 equipment inspires people to be playful, exercise and to challenge their bodies and senses. The equipment is designed and produced with senior citizens in mind, and it enables both independent exercise and fun games with children or grandchildren, for example. This means a healthier life and more quality time! Playtime isn’t over – it’s only just beginning!

RAMP Walking on an inclined surface exercises balance and flexes the ankles. Falls can be prevented by strengthening and exercising the lower limbs.

FINGER STEPS Climb the steps with your fingers. This exercises fine motor skills and improves function in fingers and the shoulder joint.

LOW CHIN-UP BAR Strengthen your arms with push-ups and chin-ups! You can also exercise your legs by doing squats. Do the exercises at your own speed and listen to your body. Add variation to the exercises by twisting from side to side.

SNAKE PIPE Move the ring from one end of the pipe to the other without it touching the pipe. This exercise strengthens and mobilises the shoulders, and improves hand–eye coordination and concentration skills.

GANGWAY Walking on a rickety surface is fun and improves balance. You can make the exercise easier by holding on to the handrails. This exercise also improves coordination and rhythm.

CHIN-UP BAR Chin-up bars are ideal for exercising and strengthening the upper body. You can add variation by twisting from side to side, which exercises different muscles in the back and arms. Strong arms are needed for many daily routines.

BALANCE BEAM A good sense of balance requires regular and versatile exercise. Walking on an undulating balance beam is a good balancing exercise. The beam’s surface offers good grip to prevent slipping. The beam’s low height and the soft surface underneath make the exercise safe and fun.

STEPS Walking up and down steps is good exercise. Your heartbeat goes up and your lower limbs grow stronger. The handrail makes the exercise safe. Steps can also be used for stretching exercises.

STRETCHING BOARD You can make your stretching exercises more challenging by stepping up and down on the Stretching board. Alternating the leading leg also stimulates your sense of rhythm. The board can be used for stretching after exercising. Place the heel of your foot on the board and bend forward from the hip, holding your back straight. Hold on to the handrail for balance. See if you can still touch your toes!

BALANCE STOOL Balancing on a rickety stool exercises the deep muscles that support the spine. The exercise is a fun way to improve posture.

NET Walking through the net without touching the ropes improves spatial awareness and coordination. You can do the exercise quickly or slowly and in different directions. You can also try balancing on the ropes!

Safe exercise All equipment is close to the ground, which makes it safe and easy to access. Special attention has been given to usability: the materials, the anti-slip coatings and handrails all improve safety during use. Lappset’s exercise equipment is of a high quality and its design fits in with many different environments both indoors and outdoors. Our products also have long life spans. This means that our products are also environmentally sustainable. Our exercise equipment for senior citizens meets all current safety regulations and has been awarded the TßV safety certificate. The wooden parts are made of hardwearing Finnish wood. The ropes are made of steel-reinforced, plastic-coated Perlon cord, which sustains loads of up to 2,200 kilograms.

HIGH CHIN-UP BARS Reach up to the bars. You can also hang from the bar and stretch your back. This is a brilliant exercise for improving your posture! Do the exercises at your own speed and listen to your body.
